Memorial Day

Today, the Rawlins Police Department joins our community and our nation in honoring the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a time to pause, reflect, and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may continue to live with the freedoms they defended.

We are forever grateful for their courage, their service, and their sacrifice. We also remember the families who carry the weight of that loss every day.

May we honor them not only with our words, but by living with gratitude, respect, and a commitment to the freedoms they protected.

We remember. We honor. We are grateful.

SCAM ALERT

Fake Wyoming Traffic Citation Texts

The Rawlins Police Department has been made aware of scam text messages claiming to be from “Wyoming District Court” regarding overdue traffic fines, arrest warrants, license suspension, vehicle impoundment, or wage garnishment.

These messages may look official, include fake officer names, fake case numbers, and links asking you to “pay now.” Do not click the link. Do not reply. Do not provide payment or personal information.

A few red flags:

The message comes from an out-of-country or unfamiliar phone number.
It pressures you to act immediately.
It threatens arrest or seizure if you do not pay.
It directs you to a suspicious website, such as a “.monster” link.
Courts and law enforcement will not demand payment through a random text message link.

If you receive one of these messages:

Do not click the link.
Delete the message.
Report it as spam/junk on your phone.
Contact the appropriate court or agency directly using a verified phone number if you are unsure.

Please share this with family, friends, and especially anyone who may be more vulnerable to scams. When in doubt, slow down and verify before you click or pay.

UPDATE PHONES HAVE BEEN RESTORED AS OF 9:00 PM 5/20/26.
We thank everyone for their patience.

Community Update – Phone/Fiber Outage

Power is starting to be restored throughout Rawlins following our spring snow storm. However, we are now experiencing a major fiber outage affecting the Rawlins area.

This outage is impacting several phone providers, including cell phones, landlines, and IP-based phone systems.

Rawlins Police Department is still able to receive 911 calls. If you have an emergency, please continue to call 911.

Our non-emergency phone lines are currently down. For non-emergency calls to our dispatch center, please use our alternate number:

307-417-9114

We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your patience as crews continue working through storm-related issues and utility outages.

⚠️ Winter Storm Safety Notice ⚠️

Rawlins is currently experiencing a significant winter storm that is bringing down trees and causing power outages throughout the city.

Schools are canceled, travel conditions are poor, and all traffic lights are not working due to the power outage.

Please help keep yourself, your family, your pets and emergency crews safe:

• Travel with caution
• Treat dark traffic lights as four-way stops
• Watch for downed trees, limbs, and power lines
• Give snowplows, utility crews, and emergency responders plenty of room
• Do not approach or drive over downed power lines
• Check on neighbors, especially those who may need extra assistance

City crews, utility workers, and emergency responders are working to address storm-related issues as safely and quickly as possible.

Please note that all non-essential city offices are closed, such as City Hall, Landfill, and Recreation Center.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Please stay home if you can, stay warm, and stay safe.

Today, on National Peace Officers Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to their communities.

Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the risks peace officers accept each day when they put on the badge. We remember their courage, their dedication, and the families, friends, agencies, and communities they left behind.

The Rawlins Police Department stands with law enforcement agencies across the nation in honoring our fallen officers. Their service will never be forgotten.

Today SRO Yardley and Sgt. Craig got to spend a few hours riding bikes with the K-1 kiddos which is one of our favorite traditions each year!

There’s nothing better than seeing the smiles, excitement, and energy from the kids as they ride alongside our officers. Building these relationships outside of emergency situations is something we truly value at the Rawlins Police Department.

And this year, we even had a few “big kids” show up to help out too!

Thank you to everyone who helped make it a fun and safe day for the kids. We already can’t wait for next year!
