Clothing insecurity is considered a hidden crisis because, despite wearing clothes every day, we might not think of it as a need compared to things like food or housing. In fact, National Clothing Insecurity Awareness Day only existed just last year. In this video, Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center Assistant Program Manager, Jessica Billiter, discusses what clothing insecurity might look like in children and adults and how it affects their lives.

Visit the County Clothing Center on September 15th from 5PM - 7PM to help us bring gently-used clothes to our neighbors. The Center will also be at Grill for Good this year to talk about the event and the work they do.

Meet your grillers for Grill for Good 2026! These local organizations will be preparing good eats for a great cause this Saturday, as money spent on food and drink will go back into your community through AFS programs.

Other programs and partners will be present at the event to table and share information about the work they do. We hope to see you at Hometown Bank Plaza in Kent this Saturday 12PM - 7PM!

September 15th is Clothing Insecurity Awareness Day, which we are expanding into a whole month dedicated to observing this issue. The Phyllis Zumkehr County Clothing Center provides free, gently-used clothing to anyone who walks through their doors, making it a valuable resource for our neighbors facing clothing insecurity.

On September 15th, from 5 PM - 7 PM, the Center will be hosting a fundraising event, with free food and a chance to win a $250 Walmart gift card. Please consider coming out that evening to help raise money and awareness for this important cause.

Learn about what's happening in your community at Grill for Good! Dozens of our programs will be represented by staff at the event, which makes it a prime opportunity to learn about volunteer opportunities and the resources we provide.
