Thrive Together Farmers Market kicks off in 16 days!

Join us every Tuesday at Portage County Health District to shop from local farmers, bakers, and vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, flowers, spice blends, and even tool sharpening. Additional activities may include blood pressure screenings, food demonstrations and tastings, and yoga on the lawn.

Tasty Tuesday vendors are invited to stay until 5:00PM.

Join a park ranger for a fun, guided bike ride while learning about trail safety, outdoor recreation, and healthy living. Free bike helmets will be available while supplies last to help keep our community safe on every ride.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month!

Safe Communities, a program of Portage County Health District, was proud to host a motorcycle safety outreach event at the westbound Ohio Turnpike Service Plaza, bringing together community partners to educate travelers on sharing the road safely with motorcyclists.

A special thank you to our partners from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, University Hospitals, Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County, and Eric Schlaubach State Farm Insurance Agency for helping spread important safety messages.

Together, we discussed ways drivers can help prevent crashes by looking twice for motorcycles, giving riders plenty of space, respecting a motorcyclist's full lane of travel, and staying alert behind the wheel. We also highlighted the importance of wearing proper protective gear, including a DOT-compliant helmet, to help reduce the risk of serious injury.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, spun the wheel, and joined the conversation. By working together and watching out for one another, we can help make our roads safer for all.

Join us for Market Style Pop-Up Food Pantry at Portage County Health District this Thursday, June 4!

Park and walk through our pantry area full of fresh food and additional resources from community partners! Wheelchairs, wagons, and volunteers are available to assist in moving through the market and carrying groceries.

We are excited to welcome a new community partner from the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI), who will be bringing a mobile bus to provide vision screenings directly to participants!
