THE CHILDREN"S HOME CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER (CHCAC) is a program of Children’s Home Society of South Dakota. CHCAC provides a safe, child friendly location for conducting expert forensic interviews and medical examinations of children who are alleged victims of sexual and/or physical abuse. We are nationally accredited by the National Children's Alliance. The primary goal of the Child Advocacy Cent

er is to reduce a child’s trauma by eliminating repeated interviews and medical examinations by multiple investigative parties. The Center provides one coordinated interview and a physical exam, and provides superior evidence in child abuse investigations. The interview process may be observed on closed-circuit television by the referring social worker and law enforcement officer. Open since November 1999, The Children's Home Child Advocacy Center is a cooperative venture created by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and agencies serving the Black Hills; including law enforcement, the medical community, United State's and State's Attorneys, court services, social service agencies, and Children’s Home Society. As a team, we respect the courage it takes for a child to tell and nothing is more important for us than creating an environment that is safe and supportive. We understand that what we do matters.
