Pennington Conservation District will be hosting its annual conference on Thursday, October 29th, 2026, from 8:30 to 4:00 at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Please join us for interactive presentations on water and soil conservation. Topics will include soil ecology and water monitoring programs, specialty crops, exciting new research, local led conservation, and more!

Lunch and coffee will be included. Please RSVP for this event by October 23rd using the link below, as space is limited.

🌲 Tree Orders Are Still Open – But Don’t Wait! 🌲

Our annual tree sale is underway, and we are still accepting orders through April 1st! The image attached shows our tree order form so you can see what species are available. Items highlighted in gray are already out of stock. Species are selling out every day, so we encourage you to get your order in as soon as possible.

How the tree sale works:
1️⃣ Complete the order form and submit it by mail, email, or drop it off at our office.
2️⃣ Receive an invoice by email in the following weeks.
3️⃣ Trees arrive in early May. Once they’re delivered, we will contact everyone who ordered to schedule a pickup time.

🌱 Trees are sold first-come, first-served, and availability changes daily.
📅 Orders must be submitted by April 1st.

The Pennington Conservation District is looking for Watercraft Inspectors to join our seasonal team in the Black Hills. If you enjoy working outdoors, talking with people, and want to play a direct role in protecting our lakes from aquatic invasive species like zebra mussels, this is a great opportunity to make a real impact.

This position works at area reservoirs conducting boat inspections and decontaminations, helping keep our waters clean and open for recreation now and in the future.

Position details:
✔ Part-time & full-time seasonal opportunities
✔ $17/hour + mileage reimbursement for eligible travel
✔ 10-hour shifts, 7 days/week (weekend & holiday availability required)
✔ Work outdoors all season long

No prior inspection experience is required — we provide the training. We’re looking for dependable, motivated individuals who are comfortable working outside in all weather conditions and enjoy being part of a conservation-focused team.
