The ride-along program is a popular Explorer activity. Eligible Explorers must be at least 15 years old and successfully complete training provided by the Rapid City Police Department. While riding, Explorers will learn police procedures and assist officers with their duties, using the radio, directing traffic, and recording information. This program offers hands-on exposure to law enforcement.

The Cadet program, joined by members of the police department's command staff, volunteered at Storybook Island tonight. We had the pleasure of meeting many visitors, both young and old, who were enjoying the illuminated displays and the warmer-than-average weather.

The Cadet program frequently engages in community service. This marked our second year at Storybook Island, and we look forward to returning next year.
