Freedom to Build — And Invest in Rangely
Rangely’s Freedom to Build Initiative is about removing barriers, encouraging housing and development, and creating new opportunities for people to build, invest and grow in our community.
Now, another exciting opportunity could help us move that vision forward.
Rangely has been included in a Rio Blanco County census tract nominated by the State of Colorado for Opportunity Zone 2.0 designation.
What makes this especially significant? Only 25% of eligible census tracts could be nominated. Colorado selected just 91 tracts statewide, and Rangely’s area was among them.
This didn’t happen without effort. The Town worked directly with the Office of Governor Jared Polis to make the case for Rangely, supported by letters from Rio Blanco County, Rangely School District, CNCC, Rangely District Hospital, RDA/RDC and other community partners.
If finalized by the U.S. Treasury, Opportunity Zone designation can encourage long-term private investment through federal tax incentives — helping attract investment in:
• Housing and real estate development
• New and expanding businesses
• Redevelopment of vacant or underused properties
• Job creation and economic growth
Rangely’s nominated tract is also considered rural, which may provide enhanced incentives for qualifying investments.
The designation is not final until certified by the U.S. Treasury, but being selected as one of Colorado’s nominees is an exciting step forward.
Freedom to Build. Opportunity to Invest. A stronger future for Rangely.
