Tonight Engine 464 and Ambulance 465 were both dispatched to our second first-due fire in as many days.

Engine 464 arrived to find a fully involved kitchen fire extending out of the Delta side of the structure. Firefighters were able to deploy a line to both the front and side doors due to fire extending from the front door but crews were able to simultaneously attack the kitchen and now front room fire.

Multiple stations from the Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighters Association and Baltimore County Fire Department arrived shortly after to extinguished the fire, deploy a third line, and perform extended overhaul to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Although the building was significantly damaged there was no loss of life and all occupants exited the structure without injury. Another job well done by all, this time with D-shift.

After last night's fire, our personnel finished cleaning and restocking Engine 464 around 0130 hours this morning. With a small amount of sleeping hours we responded to another fire alarm in one of our neighboring company's first due at 0610hrs.

Fortunately this was only a false alarm but it shows you how an average call can quickly turn into a complex one in only a matter of minutes or be nothing at all. We then joined members of the Baltimore County Fire Department Training Division & East Battalion in a one-hour Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training drill at 0700hrs.

This drill simulated a very challenging rescue scenario of a downed firefighter inside a maze-like structure that required communication, critical-thinking, strength, endurance, and calm under pressure. Not only did our personnel participate but they recieved a plethora of constructive feedback to implement should we encounter such a challenging scenario.

Another well deserved shout-out to our members for their commitment to improving and a well-deserved 👏🏿 to the career members who are working diligently to ensure collaborative trainings and efforts continue in Baltimore County.

Last night Engine 464 was dispatched to a reported "Fire Alarm" at a mid-rise structure in our first due. Enroute, reports of a dryer fire were received prompting the crew to upgrade the assignment to a "Local Fire Box". Upon arrival, the building was not evacuated and there were no indicators of smoke nor fire.

Upon approaching the front door, thick white smoke was observed rolling down the interior portion of the first floor prompting the officer to request an "Apartment Fire Box" assignment.

Two crew members reported to the first floor, fire apartment and two crew members reported to the second floor fire apartment. After deploying a line to the front door the driver assisted with flaking the line out and observed fire showing through the wall of the 1st floor that was entering through the second floor with an obvious hole through the 2nd floor into the 1st floor ceiling.

That information was relayed to the responding crews and the crews inside. A "Working-Fire" assignment was requested. The driver and a trainee firefighter pulled a second line and began knocking the exterior fire to reduce fire spread to additional apartments. Ambo 465 arrived with three personnel one being a firefighter-driver allowing the Engine 464's driver to join the crew inside.

The interior crews encountered thick smoke on the 2nd floor to the floor level and eventually located the fire with Truck 18. With much of the 2nd floor being compromised the Baltimore County Fire Investigative Division was requested and is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire was extinguished with the help of several Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighters Association and Baltimore County Fire Department stations (C-shift) working collaboratively to ensure life safety and reduce the risk of fire spread. 💪🏾 work everyone!
