Books for moms, dads, grads and more will be available at rock-bottom prices during the Rancho Santa Margarita Friends of the Library semi-annual book sale Friday and Saturday May 10-11.
‘‘We stockpile our very best donations in anticipation for this sale,’’ said bookstore manager Evita Block. ‘‘When we begin unpacking our boxes of books from our storage closets, I am amazed at the quality and the quantity of donations our community gives to us to benefit library programs.’’
The storage closets are about to burst and there will be literally tons of bargains to be had. Book sale sections include Children’s, Cookbooks, Home Decor and Gardening, Religion, Sports, Travel and History, to name a few.
Money raised by Friends of the Library benefits the Rancho Santa Margarita Public Library programs such as story time, summer reading, film programs, literacy programs, and teen art and poetry contests. Friends of the Library also purchases supplies, recorded books, DVDs, paperbacks and more for the library.
Friends of the Library sells tax-deductible annual memberships for $20 (individual) or $25 (family). In addition to a free $1 book with purchase throughout the year, joining allows members to get into the book sales one hour earlier — 9 a.m. — than the general public. Members are always lined up outside the door before the sale opens.
‘‘Our shoppers know a bargain when they see one,’’ Block says. The two-day sale is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday May 10. On Saturday, May 11, sale hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will be held in the RSM Library community room, 30902 La Promesa. For more information call 949-459-5524 or visit the FOL Web site at www.rsmfol.com.
‘‘Anyone looking for a book for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations or any other occasion won’t be disappointed,’’ Block said.
Normally, donations are accepted anytime the bookstore is open. However, in the days immediately before and after the sale volunteers are busy with sale setup and cleanup. Anyone wishing to donate books for the sale can do so until Saturday, May 4. Friends of the Library will resume accepting donations on Tuesday May 14.
Friends of the Library sells textbooks and specialty books through online stores such as ebay.com, half.com and amazon.com.
