Ron Brown – Olympic Champion, NFL Star & Community Leader

From blazing down the track to making game-winning plays on the football field, Ron Brown's speed and talent made history. A gold medalist in the 4x100m relay at the 1984 Olympics and Pro Bowl kick returner for the Los Angeles Rams, Brown is one of the rare athletes to excel at the highest level in two sports.

But his greatest legacy may be off the field. As CEO of Players Congress-Football Legends and Business Affairs Director for the NFL's "Goals for Life," Ron is committed to mentoring at-risk youth and uplifting underserved communities across California.

This June, we proudly welcome Ron Brown into the California Sports Hall of Fame, honoring not only his athletic excellence but also his lifelong dedication to making a difference.

Janet Evans – Olympic Trailblazer & Swimming Icon

A four-time Olympic gold medalist and former world record-holder, Janet Evans redefined distance freestyle swimming. By the age of 15, she had already shattered world records in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m freestyle—an unprecedented feat for a female swimmer at the time.

At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Evans delivered one of the most dominant performances in Olympic history, capturing three gold medals and breaking her own world record in the 400m freestyle. She went on to defend her 800m title at the 1992 Games in Barcelona, where her legacy as one of the greatest distance swimmers was solidified.

From winning 47 of 50 major international events to holding the 800m world record for nearly two decades, Evans’s achievements in the pool are matched only by her leadership outside of it. Today, she continues to serve the Olympic movement as Chief Athlete Officer for the LA28 Olympic Games.

Paul Caligiuri – A U.S. Soccer Icon

Paul Caligiuri forever changed American soccer with the “Goal Heard Around the World”—the historic shot that sent the U.S. Men’s National Team to its first World Cup in 40 years. A veteran of the 1990 and 1994 World Cup teams, he earned 110 caps and played every minute of the 1994 tournament on home soil.

Caligiuri broke barriers as the first American-born player to sign a major contract in Europe, later becoming a key figure in Major League Soccer with Columbus Crew and LA Galaxy. His career is marked by consistent excellence—on the international stage, in the Bundesliga, and throughout MLS.

From captaining UCLA to a national title to shaping the next generation of players, Caligiuri’s impact on American soccer spans decades. In recognition of his contributions, he will be inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame this June.
