Ramseur Fire responded to at least 16 calls in the aftermath of tonight’s storms. We encountered many trees down, trees entangled in utility lines, trees on houses and flooding in structures. There is a lot of damage in a small section of our district. We are grateful there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. We received some strong assistance from East Side Fire Department tonight and are very thankful for all their help.

Please be patient and careful if you are out in the Ramseur and the Eastern Randolph area. There are multiple trees and utility lines down and some are in roadways. There are multiple trees down on houses.

If you have called 911 to report a tree down, someone will get to you, but there are more calls going on than there are fire departments available. Ramseur, Franklinville, East Side, Staley and Liberty Fire Departments are all operating on multiple calls and assisting each other as crews become available.

Edit: It was brought to our attention that Jaxon is actually 4th generation as his great grandfather was one of the founding members of Franklinville Fire Department. Amazing!

The future looks bright at Ramseur Fire Department!

We currently have three Junior Firefighters that are all 3rd generation firefighters. Jaxon Macfayden (Grandfather Former Asheboro Firefighter Bob Macfayden, Father Ramseur Firefighter Lee Macfayden) and RJ and Jeremiah Wright (Grandfather Former Franklinville Chief James Parrish, Father Retired Ramseur Firefighter Jeffrey Wright).

We are excited to see the legacy continue!

Ramseur Fire sends their condolences to Firefighter Smith’s family and to the Farmer Fire Department on their loss of their charter member. Smith was still serving on the department and will be greatly missed.

Today, the members of the Farmer Fire Department mourn the loss of one of our own.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of charter member Roy Smith, who faithfully served the Farmer Fire Department and our community for 56 years. Roy’s dedication, selfless service, and unwavering commitment helped shape our department into what it is today. He was more than a firefighter—he was a mentor, a friend, and a cornerstone of the Farmer community.

In addition to his service with the fire department, Roy proudly served our nation in the United States Air Force and dedicated his career to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he retired after many years of faithful service.

Roy’s legacy of honor, service, and compassion will continue to inspire generations of firefighters and community members alike. His impact on the Farmer community will never be forgotten.

Please keep Roy’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Roy. Your watch is over. We will take it from here.
