We hope you'll join us at Vance Birthplace next Saturday, Sep. 19th for Patch-a-Palooza! K-8th grade kids can try their hands at historic crafts, games, and toys from 10am to 2pm.

Admission is $7 per child to cover the cost of craft supplies. Adults enter for free unless they would like to participate in the crafts as well. Enter through the visitor center to pay admission and collect your Patch-a-Palooza stamp sheet. Each station has a stamp and each child who collects all 7 stamps can turn them back in at the visitor center for a free Vance Birthplace patch!

Starting September 10, 2026, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial will implement new fees for guided tours. While general admission to the site remains free, rising operational costs require a small increase in fees for our guided tours.

At the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, our guided tours are:
- Adults: $8 plus tax
- Seniors (65+) and Military: $7 plus tax
- Youth (3-17): $1 plus tax
- K-12 groups: guided tours remain free for public, private, and registered home school groups.

The Memorial's visitor center, which offers our short film on Thomas Wolfe's life and career as well as our self-guided exhibit hall, remains free.

Please know that all revenue earned from guided tours directly benefit the Memorial, and we appreciate everyone's continued support!

Calder Loth, retired Senior Architectural Historian for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources, will present “Speaking Greek,” discussing the Capitol’s rich Greek Revival architectural style.
