Congratulations to the 89th graduating class of the Detention Officer Certification Course (DOCC)! We had the honor of swearing in 16 WCSO detention officers and 2 Orange County Sheriff's Office detention officers on Wednesday.

"We look forward to their service to our agency and our community," Sheriff Willie Rowe said. "Training the cadets from Orange County was an opportunity to share resources and assist a neighboring agency with preparing officers. We congratulate and wish them the best in their new careers."

Join us in welcoming these detention officers to WCSO!

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for drug trafficking charges after a multi-agency investigation.

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, WCSO, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI), and the Cary Police Department (CPD) conducted an enforcement operation in the 6100 block of Corporate Ridge Road in Raleigh.

During the investigation, officers seized approximately 121.55 pounds (55 kilograms) of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $16.3 million.

Deputies arrested and charged Jonathan Pena, 31, with 3 counts of trafficking methamphetamine and 1 count of conspire to traffic methamphetamine.

We would like to thank the NCSBI and the Cary Police Department for their collaboration on this investigation.

“This arrest and seizure are the result of teamwork across agencies. A large value of drugs was kept off the streets of Wake County because of this investigation. We value our relationships with our federal, state, and local agencies and will continue our unified efforts to eradicate drug trafficking in our community," Sheriff Willie Rowe said.

“This 55-kilogram drug seizure in Wake County is a direct result of the strong partnerships and relentless teamwork. These drug agents and officers are on the front lines every day, identifying and disrupting criminal networks that threaten our communities. Their efforts are critical to keeping dangerous drugs off North Carolina’s streets and protecting the safety and well-being of our citizens," NCSBI Director Chip Hawley said.

This is an ongoing investigation, and there is no additional information at this time.
