Thank you to Program Committee Chairs, The Hon. Deborah Barker of Person County and Vickie Daniel of Richmond County for putting on a great conference in Wilmington, NC. A special congratulations to The Hon. Susie Kelly Thomas for becoming president last evening at our annual awards banquet. *A separate press release will be done honoring awards from outgoing President Jess Hill including the Presidents Award to Jan Kennedy of New Hanover County, Boots on the Ground winners Dean And-Heather Tolson of Dare and Jim Mixson of Iredell. Lastly, Chief Justice Paul Newby was honored with the prestigious Rachel Joyner Award. Congratulations to all and for all clerks new and old as well as special guests being with us this week!

Miss Lumbee Anna Hunt dazzled us with her amazing voice and grace with a performance of the National Anthem. Besides being a talented member of her community, Miss Hunt was also a contestant on American Idol. We can see why she made it to Hollywood! Thanks to The Hon. Shelena Smith, Clerk of Superior Court, Robeson County for introducing us to her. 🇺🇸

The Bladen County Clerk of Superior Court’s Office is incredibly proud to recognize Assistant Clerk Monica Wilkins, who was selected by Chief Justice Paul Newby’s Commission on Professionalism to receive the Outstanding Assistant Clerk Certificate of Excellence Award! 🏆⚖️

Monica has served the citizens of Bladen County and North Carolina through our office for 11 years, and this recognition is so well deserved.

Those who work with Monica know that professionalism is simply part of who she is. She serves the public with genuine compassion, patience, and a willingness to help — whether the matter is big or small. She is a tremendous asset to our office and to the judges she works alongside, and she consistently embraces change, looks for solutions, and finds ways for us to serve the public more efficiently.

Her dedication also doesn’t stop at 5:00. Monica willingly comes in on holidays and during severe weather when necessary to ensure first appearances are conducted — and somehow, she still manages to do it with a smile. ❤️

We already knew how special Monica was, but we are thrilled to see her dedication and professionalism recognized at the state level.

Our Southeastern NC Regional Meeting took us to the lovely town of Southport, NC with host clerk, The Honorable Katie Madon, Brunswick County Clerk of Court providing a great spot downtown to have the meeting and eat while discussing important business! We will be in her neighboring county of New Hanover next month with the Honorable Jan Kennedy hosting our Summer Conference.

On July 16, the Conference held our Central Regional meeting in Asheboro. We were treated to a great hosted luncheon by The Honorable Randolph CSC Pam Hill after our business concluded.
