Volunteers from Bank of America came by last week to assemble meal kits so families in our program can laugh and bond over home-cooked meals at the dinner table together. These wonderful volunteers also sorted and organized the food in our pantry, making it easier for our Mentor Advocates to come in and quickly grab what they need for families. Thank you so much to Bank of America employees for making a difference for local children and their families working hard to move from homelessness to home! 🩵

Kids in our afterschool program recently got to put their creative caps on while decorating the second Little Free Library at our emergency shelter units. They had a blast covering their hands in paint to leave handprints all over and drawing their own colorful designs on the library, creating a work of art together. The result? The cutest Little Free Library we've ever seen!🎨🖌️

Our afterschool program gives children a space to learn, play, and build community with one another. If you would like to support more programming like this, donate now at the link below or in our bio!

Last month's family workshop, titled "You're Housed, What Next?" and led by Family Support Advocate Valentina, highlighted maintaining self-sufficiency and staying housed. While the children in our program got to have playtime with toys and a kid-sized basketball hoop, Valentina spoke with parents and guardians about housing stability and educational and employment opportunities. Stabilization & Employment Mentor Advocate Paul also jumped in with some of his insights. Families in attendance were very engaged and had great conversations with Valentina and Paul about wise spending habits and budgeting, like making a list of items that are needed and making sure to not grocery shop when you're hungry. The impact of homelessness on both children and adults in families came up and the workshop attendees had an insightful and inspiring discussion on the importance of self-care in maintaining housing and financial stability.

Attindas Hygiene Partners showed up big for us last month, bringing 37 members of their staff and leadership team to volunteer as part of a corporate day of service. They split up into groups and tackled different areas of our office and emergency shelter space, making a huge difference inside and out. Attindas volunteers organized closets and workstations, added fun and cozy new elements to our family reception area, cleaned and painted porches, and planted bushes to give the outside a fresh look just in time for summer. Thanks to Attindas' partnership and hard work, families in our shelter units have dignified living spaces to come home to, children have a refreshed play area to enjoy when their families come by our office, and staff members can spend more time partnering with families in a neat and tidy office.💟

Our hearts are so full of gratitude for the incredible support we received this spring campaign. Thank you for believing in the Safe Nights that create Hopeful Futures for Wake County children and their families who are working hard towards long-term success and stability, not just survival.

Your incredible generosity came at a critical time as more and more families in Wake County are having to make difficult choices between proper healthcare, food on the table, or secure housing. The generous outpouring of support during our Double Impact Giving Days also FULLY UNLOCKED our $37,600 match fund, doubling the impact for families. Because of you, we’ll be able to support even more families as they start new chapters filled with safety and growth. Thank you. 🩵

Although this campaign has ended, homelessness does not. Every day, Wake County children and families need safe places to sleep and a community that believes in their future. We invite you to continue making a difference with a gift whenever the spirit moves you at the link below or in our bio.

Thank you so much to Yardi Systems for giving us the opportunity to connect with their employees at their annual non-profit fair! We had a fantastic time introducing more members of the community to Families Together's work and impact for local families in crisis. It was also really great to spend time alongside fellow community organizations, many of whom are our collaborative partners in making Wake County stronger and healthier.💟

Meet Ms. H: A mom currently in our program who was experiencing homelessness, unable to find stable employment, and parenting two children who were struggling in school. With the support of our wrap-around resources, Ms. H found affordable housing, employment, and access to the proper medical care her children needed. We also connected Ms. H to a laptop from Kramden Institute, allowing her to complete undergraduate classes and begin a social work program in July. Mom is working hard in partnership with our staff - and the results go far beyond just herself. Both children are now doing much better in school and Ms. H has also been given the opportunity to provide peer support for someone in the shelter she was staying at before she came to our office.

✨This is what your generosity creates - a ripple effect of change that spans beyond one generation of a family and beyond a single family's unit. When we support our neighbors going through challenging times, our entire community becomes stronger and healthier.💪
