Raleigh is proposing updates to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to help reduce barriers for childcare providers.

The changes would:
✅ Allow more enrollment in Home Day Care uses
✅ Remove household‑employee requirements
✅ Eliminate the Special Use Permit for Day Care Centers in Residential Districts.

The restored 1949 Lustron House just received a historic landmark designation! The all-steel, post-WWII home was moved from Buffaloe Rd. to Haywood St. Only 39 Lustrons were sold in NC, making it a unique piece of Raleigh’s history. https://bit.ly/4iIbjvB
