Hope Center at Pullen

Hope Center at Pullen Connecting young people aging out of foster care in Wake County to the housing, jobs and support network they need for a successful transition to adulthood.

The Hope Center at Pullen empowers emerging adults adults who are transitioning out of foster care in Wake County with the support and connections needed for a safe and stable adulthood. Most teenagers can stay plugged into the resources they need to thrive as they transition to adulthood, such as housing and financial security. They are powered through their relationships with their families. But

many young people leaving foster care are suddenly unplugged from all networks of support. The Hope Center at Pullen ensures all our young people leaving foster care can stay plugged in to the resources and supports they need to achieve a safe and stable adulthood. Our work begins in our Teen Programs, where we build relationships through our tutoring, mentoring, internships and life skills programs. Our work continues when many of these same youth enter our Transition Program. Our Transition Program helps former foster youth achieve & maintain safe, stable housing and guides participants as they work towards their self-sufficiency goals.

Choosing a partner to spotlight this month was a no brainer ❤️ As if winning the Stanley Cup isn’t enough (!!!!), the Carolina Hurricanes also showed up for youth in our community by donating in-kind to Raising Hope this year. Thank you for your partnership and GO CANES!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of The Gipson Family Foundation, AJ Fletcher Foundation, RRAR Realtor Giving Network, Mungo Homes, and Turnkey Residential Sales, Leasing & Property Management, The Hope Center’s 4 bedroom bridge housing apartment for males transitioning out of foster care is ready for move-in with our first resident expected to settle in this week! Even with the steadfast support of The Hope Center, it is often a months long process for our youth transitioning out of foster care to secure needed housing vouchers and move in to their own home. In the meantime, our two, 4-bedroom apartments (one for young women and one for young men) serve as a safe, stable, and welcoming launch pad for their future goals. Our Executive Director, Meredith Yuckman, and Transition Programs client Tyler Magna speak more to the importance of these apartments in these snippets from their speeches. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to HCP’s purchase and renovation of these apartments, and to everyone who joined us last week for the open house and ribbon cutting!

Last Friday we celebrated four incredible former foster youth for their achievements in the Hope Center Transition Programs with good food (thank you Midwood Smokehouse Raleigh !!!!), friends, and family! Although these 4 young people are “graduating” from case management services with The Hope Center, they will always be part of the HCP family and our team will be excitedly awaiting news and visits!

Four of our Hope Village at Method residents just received a truly transformational gift from A Lotta Love who came in and fully designed, furnished, and decorated their apartments with comfort, functionality, and personality all in mind. All in one day of work! Each resident was able to provide the brilliant A Lotta Love team with style, color, layout, and other preferences so the final results truly felt like them. These former foster youth have called Hope Village at Method home for a while now, but thanks to A Lotta Love, it is now THEIR home and sanctuary. THANK YOU A Lotta Love and Realtor Giving Network who provided the soil and plants for the stunning new outdoor planters that have brought the outdoor space to life!

✨One week later and we are still on cloud sweet 16! ✨
We are blown away by the generosity and community that we witnessed last week at Raising Hope Sweet 16 and we are so excited to announce that it was a momentous Raising Hope in more than one way…

👏🏻 We welcomed more people to the event than ever before (over 200!)
🫶🏻 We raised a record-breaking total of OVER $125,000!!!

From the fun and foretelling Sweet 16 superlatives shared for donations, to the auctioning of a $20 bill signed by our youth, to the standing ovation for our keynote speaker, Zykeria, this Raising Hope was full of so many memorable moments.
With you in our corner, our foster youth and former foster youth are truly ‘Most Likely to Succeed’!
THANK YOU to our sponsors, attendees, in-kind donors, Raising Hope committee members, board members, emcee , auctioneer Ben Farrell, and our indomitable staff for making this event such a success!
