The Board's new portal isn't the same as the old one, and there's a real reason. The previous portal was used for CPA license renewals and firm registration renewals. The new portal supports a much broader range of services, including applications for the CPA Exam and CPA licensure, creating a single system for applicants, licensees, and firms.

Like any new technology, there is a learning curve as users become familiar with new processes and security requirements. While we've received a variety of feedback since the portal launched in April, one thing is clear: the system is working. More than 14,500 CPAs have already successfully renewed through the new portal.

To make account creation and renewal as smooth as possible, please review the resources on our website (https://zurl.co/bjh7p), in our newsletters (https://zurl.co/uVxoJ), and in the renewal reminder emails. Spending a few minutes familiarizing yourself with the instructions can save time and prevent common issues. And if you do need help, contact us at licensing(AT)nccpaboard(DOT)gov or call the office.

We encourage you to create your account and complete your renewal now rather than waiting until the June 30, 2026, deadline. This will provide additional time to resolve any questions or technical issues that may arise.

Join us for our June 22 meeting, where Board members will receive committee updates, review monthly metrics, discuss the approval of recently amended rules, and recognize several North Carolina CPAs who have reached 50 or more years of CPA licensure. See the agenda here: https://zurl.co/Z0kzk

NC : If your mailing address is in North Carolina and you have not renewed your NC CPA certificate or requested inactive status, there's a good chance you're the lucky recipient of a renewal reminder email today.

Before you click "Access User Portal," remember two important things:

✅ You do not have to renew the moment the email arrives. You can wait until later today to complete your renewal. Spreading activity throughout the day helps keep the portal running smoothly for everyone.

✅ You *must create an account in the Board's new portal* before you can renew.

Do you remember the old slogan, "I Like Calling North Carolina Home"? Even if North Carolina isn't where you call home, your NC CPA license does. 🏠

Whether you're in another state or another country, if you want to keep your North Carolina CPA license active, be sure to complete your renewal by June 30. Learn more: https://zurl.co/3tdsh

📌 Reminder: If you have an international, military, or U.S. territory address or phone number, you must use the MFA app option when creating your portal account.

And if you just sang that slogan instead of reading it, you're our kind of people.

How do you make the NC CPA renewal emails stop? We thought you'd never ask.

Option 1: Renew your license
Option 2: Request inactive status (https://zurl.co/go6gh)
Option 3: Continue ignoring us and see how many creative ways we can remind you before June 30.

We're not saying we'll keep showing up in your inbox, but we're not *not* saying it either. 😄

Confession time: We were going to post about yesterday's score release. But yesterday was so busy with renewal questions, portal logins, and helping licensees who were considering inactive or retired status, that the day got away from us. We're pretty sure that candidates were checking for their scores long before they checked our social media feed. 🤣

Congratulations to everyone who received good news yesterday, and for those still working toward that passing score, keep going. We're rooting for you.
