The Lorax – “I Speak for the Trees”
https://livableraleigh.com/the-lorax-i-speak-for-the-trees/

The Lorax spoke to City Council May 12, 2026:
"I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongue. This is not about what is, it’s about what can become. A vibrant tree canopy to grow 24,000 strong. City of Oaks, Grow them with care. Give them clean water. And feed them fresh air. This is the future we ask you to share."

One size doesn’t fit all

Yolanda Smith spoke to City Council May 12, 2026:
"I am asking this Council to direct staff to implement a case-by-case evaluation process for TOD projects in established neighborhoods. Density bonuses should be contingent upon: Infrastructure Alignment, Public Benefit and Safety Verification. Raleigh needs smart growth, but blanket policies that ignore physical infrastructure risk displacing the very communities they intend to serve."

Our first organizing meeting for restarting Raleigh’s Central CAC (Citizen Advisory Council) will be on Saturday, June 6 at 2:00 PM in the John P. “Top” Greene African American Cultural Center (401 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.).

We’re starting to build momentum in our reactivation efforts, including a presentation this past Saturday at the South Park-East Raleigh Neighborhood Association (SPERNA). If your neighborhood association would like a presentation at your next meeting, please let us know!

We hope to create a new Central CAC board that reflects the diversity of our community. So please get involved and consider being nominated to a board position. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors!

Please respond to Mike Motsinger ([email protected]) and Brian Rineer ([email protected]) and let them know about your interest in restarting the Central CAC. Also let them know if you would like to serve on the new Central CAC board and be nominated to a particular position.

Thanks for helping and being involved in your community,
Your neighbors and the RCAC team
