The beach below the cliffs at the 91st Evac was a haven for night shift staff and ambulatory patients during the dry season. We had a rock reef protecting the shore and the cliffs on two sides which made for a feeling that you weren't in a war zone...except for the occasional Huey medivac arriving and taking off from the helipad overhead. The three photos show: 1) the beach from sea level, 2) from above near where the O-Club and a guard tower stood and 3) how it looked from above in Jan 2019 when my wife and I revisted Chu Lai. The cliff had collapsed, probably about where the mess hall was located.
