Etowah County Schools will dismiss students at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, to allow participation in or attendance at the Veterans Day Parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Broad Street. Please contact your school for specific student transportation categories dismissal times.

PSA for people traveling through Rainbow City.
Due to a transformer fire on Rainbow Drive, Rainbow Drive from Lumley to Pleasant Valley will be closed to thru traffic until further notice. If you are coming from Rainbow City, please take Lumley Road to Steele Station Road to Pleasant Valley Road to Rainbow Drive to detour around. Vise versa if coming from Riddles Bend / Saint Clair County. Alabama Power has been notified. Thank you for your patience!

It is forecasted that travel may be heavily impacted in our area. While forecasts are dynamic and can change at any time, it doesn't hurt to have a plan.

With that being said, we are preparing on our end to maintain a high quality of service, given the potential conditions.

If roads are deemed closed or impassable, please do not attempt to drive in those areas. Essential workers should have a plan for travel ahead of time.

***Toys Under the Rainbow Applications***



The Rainbow City Police Department is now accepting applications for Toys Under the Rainbow. The deadline for applications to be turned in is December 13th, 2024.



Requirements:

*Must live in Rainbow City

*Children must live in the household with the parent or guardian

*Photo ID of parent and guardian

*Social Security Card for everyone in household

*Birth certificate for children

*Proof of income

*Current utility bill

*Wish list for children/interests

*Clothing/diaper/shoe sizes



Applications can be picked up at the Rainbow City Police Department, 3700 Rainbow Drive Rainbow City, AL 35906. Applications must be turned back in to the police clerk where they were picked up. If you have clothing needs or necessities such as diapers, you MUST fill out sizes that you need if you wish to receive any of those items. If you have older children, we do provide gift cards so please include their favorite restaurants and interests. Also, if you are needing hygiene items, please list those too.



There will be a drawing for a $200 gift for a boy and a $200 gift for a girl. This drawing will take place the week before Christmas and you will be notified if your child wins.



All applications MUST be filled out completely in order to receive assistance.
