🧵Revisiting Rahway: Rahway Public Library is pleased to display fiber art panels by local artists Wendy Sheridan and Lauren Reidy. The panels were part of the NJ TRANSITional Art Project titled “ARRIVING HOME” at Rahway train station and celebrates the rich history of Rahway. Stop by the Reference area to see it today!

Library Assistant

The Rahway Public Library is looking for a part-time library assistant to meet a number of challenges in our circulation department. Our ideal candidate would command strong customer service skills and possess a sense of civic mindedness. Enthusiasm for public service is required. Responsibilities include being the public face of the library, checking in/out materials, processing of new materials, shelving, handling credit card/cash transactions, and other duties as assigned. Computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, and modern web browsers is required. Attention to detail and the ability to follow library policy is essential.

This position is a permanent, part-time, civil service, union position (19 hours per week). Schedules will vary, but will include one or more evenings per week and rotating Saturdays. 2026 hourly rate is $20.97. This position confers a substantial benefits package including sick, vacation, and personal leave, enrollment in a deferred contribution retirement plan, and education/tuition reimbursement up to $2,500 / yr.

Appointment is provisional for four months. Public library experience is preferred. High school diploma or equivalency is required. EOE, NJ First.
