It’s easy to get frustrated when fishing—especially when the fish aren’t biting. But the best way to catch a fish is to keep trying! Successful anglers spend plenty of time on the water and never give up. Every cast is a new opportunity to reel one in!

Always remember to check in using the QR code on the signs posted around the pond each time you fish at a GOF! site. These check-ins help us track angler participation, demonstrate the popularity of these ponds, and ensure we can continue stocking them in the future.

Happy July! The sun is out and the channel cats are stocked! Make sure you have proper sun protection when bank fishing our GOF! Ponds. That means a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water. Stay cool and happy fishing!

Consider bringing fish grippers next time you go fishing. This instrument clamps onto the fish’s lower lip, allowing you to hold it without disrupting its protective slime coat. Grippers are particularly useful when handling catfish: this tool keeps their sharp fins at a distance and reduces your chance of injury.
