Today, on this 25th anniversary, the members of Raeford Fire Dept pause to remember nearly the 3,000 innocent lives lost to terror. in a special way we carry the legacy of the 343 FDNY members, who selflessly ran towards the devastation and made the ultimate sacrifice. May we never take tomorrow for granted and may we NEVER forget. This flag was the one flown on this horrific day.

We would like to take the time to thank our city council for allowing us to donate some of our older gear to the local fire academy Hoke County High School. This program has provided some awesome productive members of multiple departments. We hope this gear serves the course well.

When Help Can't Get There: Limited Access Interstate Extrication Incidents

Friday, February 5, 2027
6:30 PM – 10:30 PM

Saturday, February 6, 2027
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Come prepared to work, think, and challenge yourself during this intense hands-on learning experience!

Can your crew rescue trapped victims when your apparatus can't reach the scene?

Major construction along Interstate 95 has created one of the greatest challenges facing today's emergency responders—limited access to motor vehicle crashes. Narrowed travel lanes often prevent fire apparatus, rescue trucks, and ambulances from reaching the incident, forcing crews to carry equipment long distances before patient care and extrication can even begin.

This realistic, hands-on, scenario-based course places students in a high-stress response involving a passenger bus and a passenger vehicle with multiple trapped occupants. The simulated crash occurs on a bridge where side access is impossible, and emergency vehicles are required to stage approximately 100 feet from the wreckage. After law enforcement secures the roadway, emergency vehicles may be allowed to enter against the normal flow of traffic, but access remains severely restricted.

Throughout this challenging training experience, students will learn to:

Deploy rescue equipment from a remote staging area.
Manage patient care while operating with limited apparatus access.
Perform vehicle stabilization and extrication in confined work areas.
Coordinate operations between fire, EMS, law enforcement, towing, and highway personnel.
Adapt traditional rescue techniques to overcome real-world interstate construction challenges.
Strengthen communication, teamwork, and incident command during complex highway emergencies.

Firefighter students will also participate in realistic live-fire rescue scenarios involving vehicle fires in an interstate environment. These evolutions will focus on delivering large volumes of water where fire hydrants are unavailable, requiring crews to develop and implement alternative water supply operations while maintaining rescue and suppression priorities.

This course is designed for firefighters, rescue personnel, EMS providers, and other emergency responders who want to prepare for the growing number of incidents occurring in active interstate construction zones—where every second counts and traditional response methods are no longer enough.

Train for the conditions you're responding to today—not the highways of yesterday.

Registration opens soon. Watch for additional details and registration information!
