Hoke County Rescue Squad, Inc. The Official page of the Hoke County Rescue Squad, Inc. as well as Medical First Responder services when EMS units are not readily available.

The Hoke County Rescue Squad is an all volunteer non-profit corporation that provides Rescue Services such as vehicle extrication, water rescue, etc. The Rescue Squad also responds to structure fires for safety and rehab of firefighters.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

Tornado Warning for... Southeastern Hoke County in central North Carolina...

Until 1130 AM EDT.

At 1051 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Shannon, or near Red Springs, moving west at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near... Antioch around 1055 AM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Bowmore.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

Advisory: Water Outage-Water Available

For those who are without water due to the water main break , the Rockfish Fire Department has drinking water and potable water available to the public. Water may be picked up at the Rockfish Fire Department located at 7600 Philippi Church Road. There is not a current estimated time for water service restoration.

Gusty winds combined with low relative humidity, dry fuels, and shifting winds will result in the potential for dangerous adverse fire behavior today. Winds from the west-southwest shifting to west-northwest as high as 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 25 to 35 mph. Relative humidity as low as 15 to 20 percent.

As most know the western part of our state was hit very hard by hurricane Helene. If anyone would like to donate, Hillcrest Baptist Church is accepting donations. If you can't deliver, contact Will Tart directly or via our Facebook messenger to pick up and deliver for you.

Tropical cyclone Debby will bring a threat of heavy rain of 8-12 inches through Friday, with locally higher amounts possible, Additionally, isolated tornados are possible.
