Virginia has begun rolling out new EBT chip cards!

When your new card arrives, you must activate it right away. Activation instructions will be included in the mailer with your new card. Your old card will deactivate once you activate the new one, or 60 days after it is mailed.

Haven’t received a chip card yet? Don’t worry. Households across the Commonwealth will

Creating a safe sleep space can help reduce the risk of suffocation-related infant death.

Place your baby alone, on their back, in a crib or bassinet with a firm mattress and fitted sheet. Keep pillows, blankets, toys and other soft objects out of the sleep area.

Use this checklist for every nap and every night. Learn more at safesleep365.com.

Before you walk away, check the back seat.

A change in routine, distraction or busy day can get the best of any exhausted parent or caregiver. Build a habit that helps protect your child:

- Place an essential item, such as your phone, bag or work badge, in the back seat.
- Ask your child care provider to call if your child does not arrive as expected.
- Always lock your vehicle and keep keys out of children’s reach.

🔒 Stronger protection is on the way for SNAP benefits in Virginia.

Virginia will soon begin issuing EBT cards with chip technology, helping reduce fraud and safeguard benefits from card skimming.

To ensure your replacement card arrives at the correct address, confirm your mailing information through CommonHelp or with your local department of social services by September 9.

Once you activate your new chip card, your existing SNAP balance will move over automatically. Your current card will remain active for 60 days after the new card is sent.
