We're partnering with New River Community Action, Inc. to bring a FREE Disaster Preparedness Training to the community. Join us to learn practical tips and strategies for preparing your household before emergencies and severe weather strike.

This training will give you the opportunity to learn more about disaster preparedness, ask questions, and take steps toward creating a plan for your family.

Preparing for a baby takes a village—and this Saturday, River Health District is bringing that village together at NRCA’s Fairlawn office. 💛

The second annual Community Baby Shower will connect expecting families with local agencies, organizations, information, and resources for the journey ahead.

Today, we’re celebrating the people whose work keeps our communities moving.

The educators and caregivers. The service workers and tradespeople. The small-business owners, first responders, nonprofit teams, volunteers, and neighbors whose efforts—both paid and unpaid—help make the New River Valley a place where people can live, grow, and belong.

Work takes many forms. So does the care that holds a community together.

Pregnancy comes with a lot of questions. Baby Basics offers a free, welcoming place to ask them—and learn what to expect, one month at a time.

Join us for three Thursday evening classes in Dublin:

Dinner and free childcare will be provided. Participants will also receive diapers, wipes, and other giveaways at each class.

Starting over takes more than determination.

For people rebuilding their lives after incarceration, several parts of life may need attention at once. A job may be the goal, but transportation, identification, housing, and access to basic needs can determine whether that goal is within reach.

NRCA’s Virginia CARES program helps people navigate those barriers while building a path toward employment and greater stability. Support is tailored to each person and may include job-readiness guidance, employment leads, transportation assistance, referrals, and other practical resources.

Because a second chance should come with a real opportunity to move forward.

Children ages 3 and older are invited to build, imagine, and create during a free-play LEGO session at the library.
