Congratulations to Zoe Zabler, 11, 5th grader from Wadewitz Elementary School, for winning this year's Racine County Foster Care 2026 Sticker Contest!

Meet Zoe:

My name is Zoe Zabler and I am 11 years old. I am a 5th grader at Wadewitz Elementary School.

I play soccer on the Polonia Eagles team. My other hobbies are being outside, baking, drawing, and playing violin.

I got to do this activity because my teacher, Mrs. Soto, gave it to us. I drew a sunset in the background and drew a bird as the mom, and her kids who are a pig and a spider. On the sand I drew starfish as a mom who adopted a turtle and a worm to show that all families are different.

This past Saturday, the Guardians of the Children (GOC) Belle City Chapter installed their annual pinwheel garden on the northeast corner of the courthouse lawn. The display was created to raise awareness for child abuse and neglect prevention and to recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Each pinwheel in the garden represents a child in Racine County who was a victim of substantiated abuse or neglect during the preceding year. This year, 180 pinwheels were placed, serving as a powerful visual reminder of the importance of prevention, community awareness, and support for children and families. The pinwheel display will remain in place throughout the month of April.

Thank you to the Guardians of the Children Belle City Chapter for hosting this annual event and for their continued efforts to bring recognition to child abuse prevention in our community.

This display is organized each year as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month to help encourage awareness, reflection, and ongoing commitment to protecting children in Racine County.
