🚨 SCAMMER ALERT.....AGAIN! 🚨

Unfortunately, scammers are at it again—and they’re targeting unsuspecting residents in our community, especially young adults and seniors. Residents are getting extremely threatening phone calls posing as a Deputy stating that there is a warrant out for the resident's arrest for failure to appear to a "federal jury summons". They are threatening arrest unless the person can post thousands and thousands of dollars. These scammers have information about the people who they are trying to scam including addressed and family details. The Racine County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone of a few important facts:

❌ We will NEVER call you to ask for money to pay a bond for missing jury duty—especially not by sending you to Walmart or any other store to pay the bond.

❌ Do NOT share or verify ANY personal information with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly, including your name or cell phone number.

❌ Never provide electronic payment details or agree to send money through apps like Zelle or Venmo.

These scams are increasingly targeting young adults, so please take a moment to talk with your older kids about how to spot and avoid these tactics.
If you ever receive a suspicious call, HANG UP IMMEDIATELY and contact the Racine County Sheriff’s Office directly to verify any claims. When in doubt, check it out—because most likely, it’s a scam.

Thank you for helping us keep Racine County safe and informed!

Jury scams have become increasingly common, with scammers posing as court or law enforcement officials to trick people into paying fake fines for missed jury duty. Here are a few tips to avoid falling victim:

1. Verify with the Court: If you receive a suspicious call about jury duty, reach out to your local court directly using their official contact information.

2. Know the Procedure: Courts typically send official jury-related information through the mail, not over the phone, email, or text. They also won’t ask for immediate payments, personal information, or gift card numbers.

3. Report Suspicious Calls: If you receive a call like this, report it to your local authorities or to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as it helps track and reduce these scams.

It’s always better to double-check and be cautious. Stay safe from these scams!
