Our "Singing Mayor" has entered the WSAZ Star Spangled Sing-Off contest, and he would love your support! Please take a moment to listen to his performance of the National Anthem and cast your vote. You can easily spot himβ€”he’s the big guy in the red shirt! Let's help put RACELAND on the map nationally by supporting our Mayor, who is singing to honor those who serve to keep us free. Thank you for your help, and PLEASE SHARE this post with your friends and family!

🚧 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE – GREENUP AVENUE DEMOLITION PROJECT 🚧

As part of our ongoing efforts to clean up our town and improve public safety, the former Bait & Tackle Shop located on Greenup Avenue is scheduled for demolition Monday, June 1 - Friday, June 5.

Preparations are currently underway, and intermittent road closures may occur throughout the demolition process. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area and be prepared to take alternate routes when necessary.

We appreciate your patience and understanding in our effort to remove unsafe structures and improve our community- working to keep Raceland moving forward!

Mayor Tony Wilson

Dear Raceland Family,

On this Memorial Day, I want to take a moment to step away from the noise of the day and simply say: thank you.

Thank you to every man and woman who wore the uniform of our nation and gave their lives so that we could live ours. They came from small towns just like ours β€” places where everybody knows your name, where neighbors look out for each other, where community means something. They left those places behind, crossed oceans and deserts and mountains, and never came home. And because of them, we still have ours.

Here in Raceland, we are a small town β€” but our hearts have always been big enough to hold the memory of those we’ve lost. Today I ask each of you to pause, whether it’s at a cookout, on your front porch, or in a quiet moment of prayer, and remember the faces behind the sacrifice. Remember that freedom is not free, and that it was purchased by people who loved this country more than they feared for their own lives.

To the Gold Star families among us β€” those who gave the most precious thing they had β€” please know that this community sees you, honors you, and will never forget.

To our veterans who are still with us: your brothers and sisters in arms are not forgotten. Not today. Not ever.

From my family to yours, I wish you a meaningful and reflective Memorial Day. May God bless the fallen, may God comfort their families, and may God continue to bless the great people of Raceland.

With gratitude and pride,
Mayor Tony Wilson

I attended one of our bi-monthly mayors' meetings today. This was started several years ago. All 8 mayors of the cities in GREENUP County decided we should get together regularly to share and discuss issues that affect us all, so we can work together for the entire community. Each city takes turns hosting. This is just one of the behind-the-scenes things we do to work for the people we serve. Thank you, City of Flatwoods and Mayor Buford Hurley, for being our host this afternoon!
