Food insecurity for families and children is on the rise. NBC’s Nightly News catches up with the East Texas Food Bank (ETFB) on how they are helping local families in need. Throughout the last year, ETFB’s BackPack program provided more than 182,000 food packs in 149 partner school sites serving nearly 8,000 children.

I have always been a fiscal conservative, and even more so in times of uncertainty, job loss and economic downturn. Although local government did not face the same challenges as the private sector, as an elected official I could not in good conscience accept a pay increase. That’s why I declined the tax-payer funded pay increase, donated it back to the county and was the only elected official in Wood County to do so.

Today: The Quitman Pilot Club is hosting an Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Conference from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Joy Hall, in Quitman. This event is designed to provide knowledge and tactics to support those living with Alzheimer's and dementia. It is free and open to the public.

4 years ago, I ran for office pledging to work hard by being fiscally responsible, to be responsive and open to the public, and to make government more efficient. I have done what I said I would do. It has been such an honor to represent Wood County as your county judge, and I humbly ask for your vote and your support on March 1.
