Meet at the local museum in Quitaque on June 17th from 2-4 pm for a fun time learning all about what was “unearthed” from this area many years ago!

ALL KIDDOS WELCOME!!!

There will be an educational lesson from an expert archeologist who LOVES teaching kids all about

While conditions have improved, fire safety is still important. Please continue to use caution with campfires and outdoor activities, and always ensure fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area.

UPDATE: The wildfire has been fully extinguished. Park visitors should continue to remain aware of their surroundings and report any signs of smoke or fire by calling or texting 911.
Remember: WE REMAIN IN A BURN BAN!

🔥 FIRE SAFETY ALERT 🔥
Visitors may notice fire activity within a very remote area in the park. Please avoid the area of any active fire and give emergency personnel plenty of space to work.
As conditions remain hot, dry, and windy, everyone can help reduce wildfire risk by:
• Staying aware of your surroundings while exploring the park.
• Keeping a watchful eye out for smoke or flames.
• Following any instructions from park staff and emergency responders.
• Reporting smoke or fire immediately.
If you see a fire, call or text 911 right away.
Wildfire safety is everyone’s responsibility. A quick report and smart decisions can help protect visitors, wildlife, and the canyon we all enjoy. Stay aware, stay safe, and thank you for doing your part.

I know something is missing on this June calendar…

Due to some unexpected nighttime setbacks beyond our control, our 🦇bat tours 🦇have been temporarily postponed. We know they’re a favorite, and we hope to have them back on the schedule soon.
There are 2 van tour options (no extra payment) if you’re looking for a tour!

Do you enjoy the great outdoors and want to put your skills and abilities to use for Texas State Parks? If so, you’ll love the scenic canyon landscape of Caprock Canyons State Park, not to mention the Official Texas State Bison Herd grazing out on the prairie. And, best of all, you’ll earn a FREE water and electric campsite with full hookup just for helping us out at only 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities include helping with visitation surveys when needed, various facilities and grounds maintenance duties, interpretive programming, and other volunteer duties as assigned.

From fierce Great Horned Owl moms defending their nests to devoted American Bison mothers leading their calves across the plains, the natural world is full of powerful women shaping the future.

Moms are protective and powerful! Don’t forget it.

We live in a place where bison roam the canyon lands; animals so powerful they once shaped the prairie with every step they took.

Where prairie dogs build entire underground towns and use different calls to warn each other of danger.

Where bats fill the sky at dusk, eating thousands of insects in a single night.

Where badgers can dig faster than most animals can run, disappearing into the earth in minutes.

Where butterflies drift across the canyon on long migrations, some traveling farther than you’d ever expect from something so small.

Where red rock canyons hold millions of years of history, carved by wind and water long before us.

Where the smell of rain comes before the storm… and the night sky still shines bright enough to stop you in your tracks.
