A Final Salute, A New Beginning

To the citizens of Quinlan and Hunt County,

For over sixty years, it has been the greatest honor of our lives to answer your calls, protect your homes, and serve as your neighbors in uniform. Today, with heavy hearts but clear minds, we announce that the Quinlan Volunteer Fire Department will be closing its bay doors for the last time.

While this chapter ends more abruptly than any of us imagined, we refuse to let our commitment to this community end here. Although we are disheartened to close the doors of the first fire department in Hunt County, we know that for the sake of the future and the safety of our neighbors, we must continue our mission.

In this time of transition, we are eternally grateful to the Union Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Union Valley has shown us the true meaning of brotherhood; they uphold the standards, traditions, and integrity that we have always valued.

In a powerful gesture of unity, Union Valley has opened their doors and graciously invited our members to join their already flourishing department. As of today, the personnel of the Quinlan Volunteer Fire Department will be transitioning to new roles as members of the Union Valley Fire Department.

Thank you for your unwavering support, your appreciation, and your trust over these last six decades. We look forward to seeing you from the cabs of the Union Valley trucks as we continue our lifelong mission to keep you safe.

One last time—Quinlan Fire, out.

Before the Vote
The firehouse is quiet—not empty, just waiting. Boots by the door. Radios charged.
Hands that know what to do when seconds begin to fall. Hope sits heavy in the air, not loud, not naïve, but steady—the kind built by years of showing up. We believed the room with the gavel
would remember that service is not a line item,
that distance is measured in heartbeats, that protection is a promise. Quinlan’s volunteers did not ask for favors. They asked to keep serving.
To keep answering the call the same way they always have— without hesitation. Today is just a day, but it carries weight. It carries homes,
and names, and the quiet trust of a community
that expects its guardians to be allowed to stand watch. No matter how the vote lands, this truth holds: you cannot defund devotion. You cannot vote away courage. You cannot undo the lives already saved. And still—we hope. We hope wisdom speaks louder than pride. We hope memory outruns politics. We hope those entrusted with safety choose to protect it. The siren has not sounded yet. The door is still open. The choice is still theirs. And we are watching—not in anger, but in faith that doing the right thing is still possible.

The staff of Quinlan Fire Department wish the community a happy and safe start to 2026!
