🐾 K9 Karl | End of Watch: May 5, 2026

Retired Quincy Police Canine Karl, a loyal narcotics detection canine and dedicated partner of the Quincy PD Narcotics Interdiction Officer Stephen Dabilis, passed away on Tuesday May 5th surrounded by those who loved and depended on him at 10 years of age.

Canine Karl began his service with the department after completing rigorous training in narcotics detection. Over the course of Karl’s career, he served honorably alongside Officer Stephen Dabilis, forming a bond built on trust, discipline, and unwavering loyalty. Together, they worked countless hours to keep the City of Quincy and surrounding municipalities safe, contributing to numerous successful investigations and drug seizures.

Karl was known not only for his keen nose and strong work ethic, but also for his calm demeanor, intelligence, and devotion to Officer Dabilis. Off duty, Karl was a gentle and affectionate companion who enjoyed rest, play, and the simple comfort of being near his family. To those who worked with him, Karl was more than a police canine — he was a fellow officer and a true friend.

Canine Officer Karl is survived by Officer Dabilis and his family, the members of the Quincy Police Department, and a grateful community that Karl served with distinction. Canine Karl’s service, sacrifice, and loyalty will never be forgotten. He will be honored and remembered always.

Rest easy, faithful partner. Your watch is complete.
