🚌MBTA Update🚌

The city has been notified that beginning Sunday September 6, Route 220 will no longer serve Hingham Center, Route 222 will no longer serve East Weymouth, and Route 220 and 222 will run every 30 minutes. Please note that between Quincy Center and Bridge St @ Newton St/Bridge St @ Standish St a 220 or 222 bus will arrive every 15 minutes creating a high frequency corridor.

🚨Traffic Alert🚨

Due to significant underground damage, the signal at Southern Artery and Fifth Ave will remain on flash the rest of today and overnight.

A contractor will mobilize crews first thing in the morning to begin the extensive repair. It is our hope that the signal will be functioning before the weekend.

Meanwhile, Stop signs have been placed on Fifth Ave to reiterate that flashing red means Stop.

The City was informed that Newport Construction Corp is will be milling Southern Artery (Washington St to Quincy Ave) Wednesday AND Thursday beginning at 5am. This is part of the state’s Route 53 Resurfacing Project.

Please seek alternate route. If you must drive this way, adhere to all construction signage and the direction of the detail officers onsite.

Crosswalk marking maintenance is scheduled to take place TONIGHT 8/13 on various roadways in Quincy Point and South Quincy. Work starts at 8pm and will continue through the night.

Please be cautious if moving through an area where a crew is working. Please don’t drive over wet paint!

What: Beginning Friday, August 7, 2026, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will begin a pilot program to close portions of Chickatawbut Road and Wampatuck Road in Blue Hills Reservation to vehicle traffic on weekends through Sunday, September 6, 2026. This pilot program is centered around supporting conservation efforts in the Blue Hills Reservation and public safety including preventing dangerous drag racing and unauthorized nighttime use. Chickatawbut Road will be closed between Purgatory Road and the Chickatawbut Overlook. Wampatuck Road will be closed between Chickatawbut Road and Bunker Hill Lane. Gates will be in place marking the closed areas. Closures will begin each Friday at 5 p.m. and continue until each Sunday at 6 p.m. Each roadway will remain accessible to hikers, walkers, cyclists and emergency vehicles throughout the closure period. Traffic patterns will be clearly marked.

DCR will be collecting data throughout the pilot closure, including traffic counts in the immediate area, to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the closure. DCR held a public meeting regarding the pilot program on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The public comment period will be open throughout the pilot closure. Comments can be submitted using the public meeting webpage.

UPDATE 8/7/26 - Crews were cancelled last night. They are currently rescheduled for Sunday night, 8/9/26, beginning at 8pm.

Sea Street Update:

One more night of pavement markings is needed for the recently paved section of roadway. Weather permitting, crews are currently scheduled for tonight, Thursday 8/6, beginning at 8 pm.

If moving through the area, use care and give crews room to work. Thank you to everyone working nights to get this phase finished, and thanks to our residents for being patient and cautious while in the area.

Sea Street Update:

Crews are scheduled to mobilize tomorrow night, 8/5, to install epoxy pavement markings within the limits of the roadway that was recently paved. Work will begin at 8pm and continue through the night. Additional nights may be needed to complete the work.

Please follow all posted signage, traffic control devices, and direction of police details. If traveling through the area, please give the crews space to work and use extreme caution to not drive over any wet markings.

Daytime work continues, pouring driveway aprons and making sidewalk repairs.
