The Quincy Police Department is aware of a power outage affecting several neighborhoods in the city, National Grid has been notified and is responding. The outage is affecting traffic lights in several intersection.

As a reminder:

🚦If a traffic light is not functioning, treat as a stop, proceeding only when safe to do so.
🚦Flashing yellow, drivers should proceed with caution as traffic permits.
🚦Flashing red: treat lights as a stop sign.

Drive slowly and with caution when approaching any of these intersections.

The City of Quincy participated in a Road Safety Audit focused on the Fore River Rotary and the intersection of Washington Street and South Street.

Representatives from several City Departments, City Council, MassDOT, MBTA, Boston Region MPO, and engineering firm Fuss & O’Neill met to identify and discuss safety challenges that will help shape a future infrastructure project at this location.

The City is excited to have completed this important project milestone and to move this project forward. Thanks to all who attended.

Be on the look out for more news on this project as it progresses through the design phase.

A new RRFB was installed today on Elm St at Miller Stile Rd to make pedestrians crossing the street safer and more visible to drivers. This crossing is close to a park and playground, and provides critical access to the downtown.

In order to facilitate the funeral services of active duty Quincy Firefighter Neil Leonard, there will be intermittent road closures in and around the following locations:

Sunday 5/17/26 12:30pm-2:30pm
A wake will be held for Firefighter Leonard at Keohane’s Funeral Home 785 Hancock Street.
Intermittent road closures in and around 785 Hancock Street during this time.

Monday 5/18/26 9:30am-12:30pm
Funeral Services and procession Sacred Heart Church 386 Hancock Street.
Intermittent road closures on Hancock Street from East Squantum Street to Billings Road during this time.

Quincy Police Department will have officers in various locations redirecting traffic as needed during both the wake and funeral. We appreciate your patience during this time.

Contractors will be milling Newport Ave from roughly Beale st through Brook St on Sunday (5/17) night 6pm to 5am. This is part of the National Grid restoration project. One lane is expected to remain open at all times for through traffic, but please seek alternate route if possible.
