I supported SB 1296 because in Gadsden County, a very few individuals control the voices of over 270 teachers without their input. 43 out of 270 teachers voted to allow the union to represent them. However, a even smaller number controls teachers voices at the bargaining table.

I have stood on my promise of increasing teachers’ and all employees’ salaries with unanimous support of Board Members. Going from a teachers’ starting salary of $38,115 in my first year as Superintendent, to our current salary of $48,273.
This $10,000 plus increase in the past five years, is one of the highest increases in the State of Florida

When Superintendents stop being called to the carpet for not getting Teachers Salary Increase Allocation out to Teachers by Oct. 1 each year, superintendents having to stand before the State Board of Education for something we cannot control with the Oct. 1st deadline and mainly when one individual is not controlling the interest of the majority of the teachers in Gadsden County without their input, I will change my stance.

Listening to the Union depiction of my testimony before the Senate, is the most disengenious, absurd and manipulative post intended to mislead others. Here is what I said in its entirety, you be the judge if I am against the workers who are genuinely concerned about educating our youth in Gadsden County.

To the Gadsden County community, we express our heartfelt appreciation for your backing of our students during the GCHS Homecoming festivities and Football Game. A power outage in the 1st quarter cut the game short. Efforts to utilize the school's generator to power the lights were fruitless because of the power load demand. Talquin Electric addressed the issue, tracing the problem to a line on Highway 90, and restored power by 11 pm.

Scheduled testing for ACT will proceed tomorrow morning.

We will communicate updates on rescheduling the Taylor County game once discussions are held. Your support for GCHS students is invaluable. Thanks for all you do.
