The ENC property is valued at up to $50 million, yet ENC has offered to sell it to the City for just $22 million. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for the City to secure local control over how this property is developed.

If the City owns the land, residents and local officials will have a direct voice in shaping its future. If the property is sold to a private developer, state laws and zoning loopholes could allow far more housing units than our roads, schools, and infrastructure can reasonably support.

Despite these concerns, six councilors are prepared to pass on this rare opportunity to preserve local oversight. One councilor has publicly acknowledged that she does not even understand the meaning behind the “Save ENC” effort, yet still intends to vote against the wishes of her constituents.

The vote is Monday. If you care about responsible development, local control, and the future of our community, now is the time to contact your councilors and make your voice heard.

Thanks to Elizabeth Dionne for State Treasurer, we learned that Massachusetts has been awarded the "Black Hole Award", a dubious distinction given to government entities that demonstrate a lack of transparency and routinely impede the public's right to access information. It's time to demand greater openness and accountability from Beacon Hill. Elizabeth Dionne for State Treasurer will make sure we are not embarrassed by this award again.
