Veterans and family members, please be cautious of “claim sharks” and other bad actors reaching out offering to help with VA benefits for a fee.

These companies may send official-looking emails, letters, or advertisements using VA-style language, seals, and formatting designed to appear legitimate. Some may promise faster decisions, guaranteed ratings, or ask for large percentages of your retroactive benefits.

Remember: accredited Veterans Service Officers provide assistance FREE OF CHARGE.

At Plumas County Veterans Services, we are here to help verify whether a phone call, email, letter, or offer may be part of a veterans benefits scam. Before signing anything or providing personal information, give our office a call.

You earned your benefits, do not let someone take advantage of you or profit from the benefits you fought for. Our office will assist you with VA claims, appeals, and benefits completely free.
