The most common question I get: What does a County Commissioner actually do?
In simple terms, county commissioners help oversee the parts of local government that keep the county running. That includes setting budgets, making policy decisions, overseeing county departments like roads/public works, planning, public defense, veteran services, fairgrounds, and human resources, and making sure taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly.
We don’t run independently elected offices like the Sheriff, Assessor, Auditor, or Prosecutor—but we work alongside them as part of county government.
Think of it this way: County Commissioners help steer the ship, set priorities, and make sure county government works for the people.
It takes good leadership!! And a leader that listens to the people they serve! I’m here for it!
