As per the State Foresters Statewide Fire restrictions, Questa Village Limits will be under a burn ban until further notice. All burn permits are suspended, and no burn permits will be issued. Please support our community's safety by following the burn ban.

The burn ban will remain in effect due to forecasted winds. However, with expected moisture, we expect to lift the ban, allowing open burn days on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, provided conditions permit.

Burn ban is being extended into the weekend, Sunday night.
Forecasted over the next few days includes
-gusty winds
-Low humidity and dry brush

This results in elevated fire threat.

🚫 TOTAL BURN BAN IN EFFECT: MARCH 25th and 26th
Residents of Questa,
Due to upcoming gusty winds and dry weather and the lack of moisture brings high fire threat, the Questa Fire Department has issued a total burn ban for the next two days.

This is a proactive measure to keep our community safe. All previous issued burn permits will be suspended , we will not issue any new permits

• Prohibited: All open burning, including trash pits, brush piles, and bonfires.

• Allowed: Propane grills and enclosed pellet stoves (please use extreme caution).

• Duration: Effective immediately until further notice

We will continue to monitor the weather and provide an update if conditions improve. Let’s keep Questa fire-safe!

Congratulations to the Questa Cheer team on bringing home the state title

: Questa High School captured the Class A-2A cheer championship at the 2026 Nusenda Credit Union State Spirit Championships, earning the top spot among small-school programs across New Mexico.

Questa finished ahead of Texico, which placed second, and Raton, which took third.

The Wildcats delivered a strong performance across crowd-leading, stunts and overall ex*****on to secure the state title.

Questa Fire Department will continue to monitor weather, as the week goes by there are some winds in the forecast. Burn ban will continue on through the week.
