It’s always a great night when Firefighter Training LLC is in town! For this weeks drill our members practiced ladder skills. These skills are critical especially for ventilation and rescues. Throughout the night, instructors led our members through raising and lowering ladders, using leg locks for stability while performing tasks such as roof ventilation and setting roof ladders, entering buildings in atypical scenarios, and using ladders and other tools to safely rescue victims. Special thank you to Firefighter Training LLC for another great night!

We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to train alongside so many of our neighboring agencies during a recent multi-agency water rescue drill involving a simulated boating accident on Lake George.

Throughout the scenario, crews worked together to extricate injured patients from boats, transfer patients between vessels, move patients by stretcher from the shoreline into awaiting ambulances, and establish a landing zone for LifeNet. Each part of the drill gave our members the opportunity to practice the coordination that would be necessary during a complex emergency on the lake.

A huge thank you to Queensbury EMS, the Lake George Park Commission, Warren County Sheriff's Office NY Marine Patrol Units, and West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company for taking the time to train alongside us. We are fortunate to have such great working relationships with the agencies we may find ourselves standing beside when our community needs us most.

Training side-by-side allows us to become familiar with each agency’s capabilities, improve communication, and practice working efficiently as one team. This helps real-life incidents run more smoothly and safely for both our responders and our patients.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Hall's Boat for providing a boat for the training and helping us create a more realistic, hands-on scenario.

We’re grateful for everyone who helped make this training possible and for the continued collaboration between our local fire, EMS, law enforcement, and lake safety partners.

This week, our members trained alongside the Park Commission during a tow sled operations drill, strengthening the teamwork and coordination that are essential during water rescues. In addition, our non-diver personnel had the opportunity to practice shallow water diving skills, giving them valuable hands-on experience and a better understanding of dive team operations.

We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to the members of the North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Co. for sharing their expertise and assistance during the other days high-angle rescue. Their collaboration with our crew was invaluable, and we’re grateful for the trust and teamwork that allow our agencies to work seamlessly together when our community needs us most.

Most importantly, our thoughts are with the patient and their loved ones. We wish them a full and speedy recovery.

Another great night of training with Firefighter Training LLC focusing on The Five Senses of Search and Rescue.

Members were challenged with a zero-visibility drill using a fog-filled wash bay and a hidden victim, putting their search techniques to the test. After completing the search, crews sketched overhead layouts of the room and its contents to reinforce situational awareness and accountability.

The second evolution focused on completing a primary search using a thermal imaging camera, sharpening skills that are critical when seconds matter most.

Last night the North Queensbury Fire Company had the honor to come together and celebrate our membership at our annual awards banquet at the Highland park country club.

From countless hours of training to responding when our community needs us most, each member plays a vital role in making our department what it is. It was an honor to celebrate those who went above and beyond, while also reflecting on everything we’ve accomplished as a team.

As temperatures rise and conditions remain dry, New York State’s annual burn ban still remains in effect for one more week! This ban helps reduce the risk of wildfires and protects our communities, forests, and first responders.

To stay prepared, members recently conducted brush fire training focused on wildfire suppression tactics, hose line deployment, water supply operations, and operating safely in challenging terrain. Training like this ensures our crews are ready to respond quickly and effectively when brush fires occur.

Please remember:
• No open burning of brush or debris during the burn ban
• Never leave campfires unattended
• Properly dispose of ci******es and smoking materials
• Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately

Another night of training in the books! Members focused on self-rescue techniques and rescuing fellow firefighters in emergency situations. From mayday scenarios to rapid intervention skills extricating fellow firefighters in distress, crews worked through high-stress, real-world drills designed to build confidence, communication, and teamwork when it matters most.

Continuous training like this ensures our members are prepared to protect not only our community, but each other. Special thank you to My Brother's Keeper - NE Emergency Training for a great night of skills!
