🍽️ Chopped Challenge: MRE Edition! 🔥

Today we had the opportunity to participate in a Chopped Challenge at our local BOCES, where students were tasked with creating unique and delicious dishes using military MREs (Meals Ready-to-Eat). The mystery ingredient? Boxed Mac & Cheese!

The creativity on display was incredible. Students transformed standard MRE components into impressive dishes that were both innovative and flavorful. Their teamwork, problem-solving, and ability to think on their feet made for an exciting competition and showcased the valuable skills they're developing through career and technical education.

A big thank you to the students, instructors, and staff for making this event such a success. The talent and imagination these students brought to the challenge were truly impressive!

Best part of our job is getting to roam around the great Adirondack Park! Rich in history, this area we call home was fundamental to the formation of the country we love. On today’s journey we stumbled upon the British Fort at Crown Point. See below for some back story

• Built by the British beginning in 1759 after they captured the area from the French during the French and Indian War.

• It was one of the largest British fortifications ever constructed in North America, enclosing more than seven acres and designed to control movement along the Lake Champlain corridor between Canada and the British colonies.

• The fort was never attacked in a major siege. Ironically, much of it was destroyed by an accidental fire in 1773, only about a decade after construction.
• During the opening months of the American Revolutionary War, Seth Warner and the Green Mountain Boyscaptured the fort and its artillery from a small British garrison. Those cannons helped the American cause early in the war.

• The site also contains the ruins of the earlier French fortress, Fort St. Frédéric, built in the 1730s.
One of the most striking things today is how massive the surviving barracks ruins are. Visitors often expect a small frontier fort, but Crown Point was conceived as a huge military installation. Historians have even described it as perhaps the greatest British military installation built in colonial North America
