And the race is down to three. Good afternoon everyone. I am a day late with this post but I have decided to withdraw from the race for MDJ.

Over the last week I have been on the fence about dropping out. After receiving a call from the Lancaster Republican office telling me of errors on my petition and the potential “challenge” of my paperwork which would leave me on the hook for court fees and costs.

I was contacted on Monday about needing to make my decision by Tuesday being it was the first day for someone to challenge another’s filed petitions. Less than a minute after I got off the phone Monday the same person called back saying there was a challenge waiting to be filed. They would not say who filed it. While I believe that had I gone to common pleas and would have kept over my 100 required signatures, I just don’t have the time and resources had I potentially lost.

I want to thank everyone who spread the word and helped get me as far as I did. I want to thank my wife for sticking with me even though she was not allowed to help with the campaign since she works for the county.

The three canidates currently still in the race are William Mankin, Richard Buck, and Melissa Anderson. As I have been saying since I started running, research the position and who is running.

I plan on leaving this page up until after the general election. Please continue to pray for all candidates and their families as they continue this journey. It’s a lot of time and effort.

Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody. Help! You know I need some… more democratic signatures. (I’ll keep collecting Republican signatures as well) REMEMBER. Signatures DO NOT count as a vote. All us canidates still need you to show up at the polls.

As I have been telling everyone I talk to, I am looking to cross file for the primary. This will allow me to be listed under both Republican and Democratic parties. My main belief in doing this is since the position is non political, I should be campaigning from a truly non political standpoint.

I am trying to target homes specifically with democratic voters but keep getting sidetracked by chasing down anybody who is out and about. If anyone is on here from scanning the QR code on the back of my flier I left at your residence, It was me coming to speak to you and not a drone.

Had a long day today, especially after working a 13+ hour shift last night. I have a handful of voter registration forms if you know of anybody who is looking to register or if you are out and about, they have them at Brian Cutlers office right beside Dolce Vita at the Buck.

So if you or anyone you know is a democrat and interested in signing, just give me a shout. Message me here or email at: [email protected]

Had a very long and productive day. Sometimes I wonder if I am spending too much time in specific neighborhoods or even talking to a single person. If I am “wasting” too much time on a single person, I am fine with that.

The number one thing voters should want before signing or even voting is to get as much information about the job so they can choose the best candidate for Judge. So me spending 10-15 minutes talking to a single person might seem like a waste of time to some, but that is 15 minutes meeting with a person and not just a voter.

I cannot stress enough how appreciative I am how receptive people are when I show them the whole picture and not just my “political face”.

Taking a few days off has been nice giving me time to go out and about as well as spending more time with the family that I have so far this year.

I want to end with a quote.
“From success, you learn absolutely nothing. From failure and setbacks conclusions can be drawn. That goes for your private life as well as your career.” -Niki Lauda

Circumstances change.

There is not a living soul on earth that hasn’t been affected or knows someone affected by change of circumstance.

Back in 2012, I was affected by a change in circumstance. Experiencing first hand that life isn’t always black and white leads me to know, that this job won’t be black and white.

I had a dream to follow in my fathers footsteps and join the military. To serve my country. I’ve dreamt of this since I was a child, imagining jumping out of a C130 using an old signal flare parachute. I was running to work and training to become fit for when I joined.

On a dewy April morning, my life changed instantly when I was struck by a truck while on my motorcycle. I was on my way to my second job.

I never made it back to that job. I persevered and learned how to walk again and eventually, got back on a motorcycle, built up my leg muscles just to use be able to push in the clutch on my fathers jeep, and pushed myself to get back to work.

I tried for the military. I was denied. A childhood dream of mine was taken from me instantly when another driver pulled through a stop sign into my path. I can only imagine if I was traveling on a road with a higher speed limit.

I still struggle with pain everyday of my life. Seeing people battle with painkillers, I have kept away from them ever since my days of going to physical therapy. I have no cartilage left in my left knee.

I still run after my kids (I look a little funny when I run now), I climb cranes at work and I still find it in me to be thankful for my change in circumstance.

Without that change, I wouldn’t have the family I have today, I wouldn’t have the job I have… and I certainly wouldn’t be here, running for judge.

Circumstances aren’t black and white, but the law is. I’m not here to fight your battles or judge you beyond the law. I’m running to show myself and my family, that while circumstances change and my dreams looks a lot different, I am just like you.

I wear many hats. Most of the time I feel like I’m working to provide for my family, spending time with the kids, or sleeping.

Recently it feels like I’m burning the candle at both ends. Sleep comes in small doses but chatting with and getting to know the people I’ve gotten to speak with so far has shown me that not a lot of people know what a magisterial district judge does and what cases are handled in front of the local MDJ. This isn’t a bad thing since it means you probably keep out of trouble.

I had a lady ask me on my thoughts about abortion the other day when I was out and about. I have to say I was at a loss for words initially. I expressed that these aren’t cases that would be handled in front of a district justice. I reiterated to her that it’s not a political position.

The duty of a district judge is a neutral party that hears cases and moves them along to the next steps of justice and my opinion on such matters wouldn’t affect my decision making process.

So while I’ve never worn the robe, I feel with all the hats I’ve worn, will allow me to transition easily.

I’ll be back was a line I told a few voters today. I love the fact that there are residents willing to research the position and other canidates before they sign the petitions.

These petition signatures are not votes. They simply get us on the ballot under whichever parties we get the required number of signatures. Same goes for political endorsements as they are mainly a few dollars to help the endorsed canidates campaign funding. That being said, congrats to Richard Buck on receiving the Republican endorsement and to Bill Mankin Jr and his Democratic endorsement. While I did not receive an endoresment, that doesn’t mean the other canidates aren’t working just as hard.

I have been thinking and praying for all of us candidates, whoever is elected and is holding the gavel, must truly leave our political feelings at home. We put on our robe and must be ready to uphold the law no matter how our feelings want to sway us.

If you haven’t seen me in your neighborhood yet, I’m still around. The southern end is huge and I am trying to get to as many areas as I can. I don’t have a campaign team helping me, as you can probably tell by my lack of posts and handing out my fliers solo, but I am trying to keep the quality to the highest by being as genuine as I can. This is also why every like and share helps tremendously.

When I first got the inclination to take my first step at running after hearing of Judge Mylins retirement, I wanted to go and ask him what exactly a candidate might expect. He did not sugar coat anything and was a straight shooter telling me it is not as glamorous a position as people make it out to be, often asking yourself after you go home for the day, “Did I make the right Judgment?” This question becomes less and less frequent as you get true experience under your belt.

Another thing the Judge pointed out is there are lots of 50-60 hour weeks researching and preparing for cases to be presented before you. I unintentionally chuckled and told him that that is my regular work week now. Plus weekend work and the hour plus commute each way. I am trying to campaign the same I would operate in office. Devoting as much time needed to research and study to ensure I can minimize the number of times I would have to ask myself, ”Did I make the right Judgment?”

I’ve been busy getting signatures, meeting more people of our community, and working. I’ve still managed to spend some quality time with the family too.

Didn’t we just celebrate New Years? One more day until you will start seeing me wandering the towns, villages and back roads of the Southern Lancaster County.

The goals for the upcoming weeks will be:
1: To get 100 signatures for each political party to be placed on their ticket for the upcoming primary. (Going to get more incase there are any discrepancies.)
2: To reach out and speak to as many voters as possible. (Maybe try to get a few people to register for the primary or even the general elections.)

The Townships voting for Magisterial District Judge 02-3-04 are Colerain, Drumore, East Drumore, Eden, Fulton, Little Britain, Martic, Providence, and Quarryville Borough. If you have a question if you live on the outer boundaries of the Southern End or in sections of Martic or Providence where the borders might be questionable, feel free to message me. Voter Registration provided lists of registered voters and addresses for any concerns.

If you have a business or a group who meet and would like to sign the petitions or get literature, just let me know and I will get myself to you. Don’t turn away the other candidates if you already have your mind set to sign and/or vote for me. Feel free to ask us questions about what we have learned, seen or experienced by observing court proceedings. I’m not gonna stop supporting you if you choose another over me.

❌Quick note. Signing the petition is not a vote itself. We are still going to need you to come out for the election. The petition means any candidate who gets the required signatures to be listed under that parties section on the ballot. Voters may only vote for their registered party on the March 16th Primary.

My work schedule has me home from 7:30am-5:00pm so between dropping the kids off and picking them up at daycare and taking a nap between shifts, I’m probably going to look like a cleaned up zombie. Bear with me if I take a little to get back with you with questions.

A schedule change threw me off from my regular posts. Gonna try to keep is short and sweet today.

I went to the voting office in Lancaster this morning and got the petition forms to get on the ballot for the primary election. I am required to get 100 signatures from registered voters from each political party I wish to be listed under on the ballot. I cannot start getting signatures until February 15th and must have all forms completed by March 8th.

Anyone interested in registering to vote must do it by May 2nd. If you aren’t registered to vote I, please, wish you would. The number one response I’ve heard from people who don’t vote is that their vote is worthless. Though we as a community may not see major results from the big wigs in DC, your vote matters to this community.

While I have full intention of making this a career, I know three of us are interested in running so I would ask that you only choose the candidate who you believe would truly be the best for the position. I do not intend to make this a one or two term gig. This was not a quick or easy decision for me as I would be leaving a career job behind if elected into office. I will be campaigning while working a hectic schedule, spending time with my family, and continuing to learn PA law.

Again, thank you all for following and sharing this page. This post is to give a short overview to the certification class that I took in Harrisburg from November 14 through December 16th. I want to first say that the teachers were exceptional. Their backgrounds ranged from professors who are retired attorneys, senior judges and a SVU detective. Their expertise allowed for our questions to be met with explanations from cases that they have experienced. Classes covered were Criminal Procedure, Motor Vehicle Code, Crimes Code, Search and Seizure, Civil Law, Civil Rules/Procedures, Landlord/Tenant, Evidence and Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act.

Gonna start by saying it has been an experience balancing school, work, family, and campaign planning. Sleep has been an optional objective.

I have always thrived to do the absolute best when others are depending on me. When I started work at my current job, I knew nothing about working the docks and being a longshoreman. I applied myself and quickly learned everything there was to learn from senior workers. After quickly becoming a team leader working on barges and in cargo holds of ships, I passed that knowledge over to a number of trainees who I am proud of the workers they have become.

After a bit, I transferred over to become a crane mechanic. My ability to read schematics, troubleshoot mechanical related problems and to work and communicate with the team while servicing or repairing the cranes. This past year I got to train as a heavy rolling equipment mechanic working on jockey trucks, forklifts, and reach stackers.

My style of trainability is how I got through the certification class. The hours of time going through our class binder, checking up on statutes, and looking up case law allowed me the same method of learning of my current occupation.

I have sat through numerous hearings at Judge Mylin’s office and gotten a solid understanding of what is potentially in store. (Though I probably haven’t seen but the tip of the iceberg.)
