Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition (MCMC) East is in the books.
This was our largest MCMC to this year, with 194 competitors, who came from 42 different units.
II MEF Commanding General, LtGen Worth presided as the guest of honor in addition to a fantastic spread of multiple other GOs and O-5/O-6 level Commanders and their respective senior enlisted were in attendance to support their Marines!
- The Marine Corps Shooting Team’s SSgt Garcia earned honors as the top overall shooter.
- 3d Marine Raider Support Battalion’s Capt Hawkins, SOI-East’s Sgt Fiorucci, and VMA-223’s Capt Bailey all earned Gold in individual pistol.
- Both Capt Hawkins and Sgt Fiorucci also won Gold in individual rifle, along with 2d Intel Bn’s SSgt Beck.
- MCI-East’s Shooting Team won the Elliot Trophy, which is awarded to the top rifle team from a unit whose strength is equal to or more than 600 personnel.
- SOI-East won the Wirgman Trophy, which is awarded to the top rifle team from a unit whose strength is less than 600 personnel.
- MCI-East’s Shooting Team also won the Edson Trophy, which is awarded to the top pistol team.
- This was also the first time a MCMC held a multi-part Precision Marksmen (PM) stages to the competition. A proof-of-concept, the stages were max’d out with 30 competitors, who came from the following units: 1/8, 2/6, 2/8, 3/2, BLT 3/6, MARSOC, and MCB Camp Lejeune. MARSOC Marines earned 1st, 4th, and 5th place with a BLT 3/6 Marine earning 2d and 2/6 Marines earning 3rd and 6th places. Expect PM stages in all future MCMCs!
Bravo Zulu to all competitors and be on the look out for your official invites to Marine Corps Championship taking place next month!
