Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition (MCMC) East is in the books.

This was our largest MCMC to this year, with 194 competitors, who came from 42 different units.

II MEF Commanding General, LtGen Worth presided as the guest of honor in addition to a fantastic spread of multiple other GOs and O-5/O-6 level Commanders and their respective senior enlisted were in attendance to support their Marines!

- The Marine Corps Shooting Team’s SSgt Garcia earned honors as the top overall shooter.

- 3d Marine Raider Support Battalion’s Capt Hawkins, SOI-East’s Sgt Fiorucci, and VMA-223’s Capt Bailey all earned Gold in individual pistol.

- Both Capt Hawkins and Sgt Fiorucci also won Gold in individual rifle, along with 2d Intel Bn’s SSgt Beck.

- MCI-East’s Shooting Team won the Elliot Trophy, which is awarded to the top rifle team from a unit whose strength is equal to or more than 600 personnel.

- SOI-East won the Wirgman Trophy, which is awarded to the top rifle team from a unit whose strength is less than 600 personnel.

- MCI-East’s Shooting Team also won the Edson Trophy, which is awarded to the top pistol team.

- This was also the first time a MCMC held a multi-part Precision Marksmen (PM) stages to the competition. A proof-of-concept, the stages were max’d out with 30 competitors, who came from the following units: 1/8, 2/6, 2/8, 3/2, BLT 3/6, MARSOC, and MCB Camp Lejeune. MARSOC Marines earned 1st, 4th, and 5th place with a BLT 3/6 Marine earning 2d and 2/6 Marines earning 3rd and 6th places. Expect PM stages in all future MCMCs!

Bravo Zulu to all competitors and be on the look out for your official invites to Marine Corps Championship taking place next month!

Yesterday WTBn had the absolute pleasure of hosting Senator Ted Budd (R-NC). We began with conducting M18 pistol familiarization and subsequent qualification. We ended with the Senator shooting the Infantry Marksmanship Assessment (IMA) scored with the Joint Marksmanship Assessment Package (JMAP) and presenting the Senator with with one of the volumes of the Marine Corps Competitive Marksmanship history. What an honor to host a U.S. Senator and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee so he could see first-hand all that our Corps is doing to objectively increase every Marine’s small-arms marksmanship lethality.

Today WTBn hosted the Office of Naval Research - Global (ONR-Global). The team demonstrated the Infantry Marksmanship Assessment (IMA) using the Joint Marksmanship Assessment Package (JMAP), a program that was created and funded under the cognizance of ONR. They not only got to see the fruits of their labor but also got the opportunity to shoot/experience it themselves! We are the cutting edge of marksmanship lethality and have the best jobs in the Corps!

It’s never “goodbye”, rather just a “see you later”. Today, WTBn bids farewell to one of the best to ever do it. Thank you to MGySgt Nick Capko for being arguably the most impactful USMC Shooting Team SNCOIC, ever. His relentless dedication to increasing the lethality of the total force is truly unmatched. Yesterday we conducted a bullseye .45 caliber vintage 1911 pistol match in his honor and presented him with the Meritorious Service Medal. Fair winds and following seas as he heads off across the highway to serve as the Provost Marshal Sergeant for Quantico Provost Marshal Office. Semper Fidelis.

Over the last 2 weeks, members from the Marine Corps Shooting Team conducted a Mobile Training Team (MTT) visit to Marine Corps Security Forces stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba! During this time they sharpened their rifle and pistol marksmanship!

Bravo Zulu to the Marine Corps Shooting Team for their relentless desire to increase the marksmanship lethality of all Marines.
