For this week's Puyallup Praise, we recognize a staff member whose work helps students build the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Through social-emotional learning, he helps students understand and regulate emotions, set attainable goals, build healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Nate Scroger, a Social-Emotional Learning TOSA at Kalles Junior High ( - Junior High), was nominated by Lindsey Brouillet, a school psychologist at the school.

She shares that Nate, "... is an integral part of the Kalles team. Not only does he organize the homeroom lessons (among so many other tasks) but he recently spent a large part of his day supporting a student with both de-escalation and organizing their thoughts for an English assignment. Nate consistently shows up to help all students and staff with a smile and a positive attitude."

Thank you, Nate, for all you do to support students and staff at Kalles Junior High. Join us again next Sunday to see who receives Puyallup Praise through our staff recognition program.

Students Shine at Annual AP Research Showcase

The Night of a Thousand Stars occurred at Rogers High School (RHS) on Wednesday, May 27, bringing together AP Research students from all three comprehensive high schools for an evening of academic celebration.

The RHS Commons transformed into a vibrant research fair where students stood beside their posterboards, fielded questions and shared the stories behind their work.

From data-driven investigations to creative problem-solving solutions, the Night of a Thousand Stars highlighted the depth of learning taking place in the AP Capstone program. Several projects are already being prepared for journal submission or competition entry, a testament to the dedication of the students and the powerful learning and academic work happening across the program.

Through May 31, existing Puyallup School District families, as well as staff and students, are invited to participate in our annual stakeholder input survey and share feedback about teaching and learning, school culture and climate, communication, and student experiences across our schools.

Students in grades 3-12 will also complete surveys during class time, and families may preview student survey questions prior to participation.
