“The time is always right to do what is right.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Today we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and the idea that strong communities are built through service, respect, and looking out for one another. Thank you to everyone who shows up for their neighbors in big ways and small ones.

Our station is staffed and ready to help if you need us.

As the sun sets on another year, we’re feeling grateful.

2025 kept us busy serving our community, strengthening relationships with our neighboring agencies, and putting in the training that helps us show up ready when it matters most. We also watched some of our own take the next step into their fire service careers, and welcomed new firefighters as they began theirs.

Here’s to the people we serve, the partners we rely on, and the team that makes it all happen.

Happy New Year from Riverside Fire & Rescue. We’re excited for what’s next in 2026.

Congratulations to Riverside Fire and Rescue’s Phoenix 9 Recruit Class on graduating Friday evening. We are proud of the hard work, discipline, and heart you have shown over the last five months. We are also grateful to the friends and family who supported you and likely did not get to see much of you along the way.

Graduation is a major milestone, and it is also just one step in a lifelong journey of training, learning, and serving. We are excited to see you transition from recruits to probationary firefighters, working through your probie books and continuing to grow shift by shift. Fifteen of these new firefighters will stay with Riverside, and nine will continue their journey with Buckley Fire Department.

A sincere thank you to the instructors who invested their time and energy into these recruits, including instructors from Riverside Fire and Rescue, Buckley Fire, South Pierce Fire and Rescue, and Ruston Fire and Rescue. Your leadership and commitment to the next generation matter.

Welcome to the fire service, Phoenix 9. Keep showing up for each other and for the communities you serve.

🎅🚒 Santa Run Update – Weather Watch 🌧️

Riverside Fire & Rescue will be out next week with our annual Santa Run on December 15, 16 & 17 here in Puyallup! Santa, our crews, and members of Recruit Class Phoenix 9 are looking forward to seeing everyone out in the neighborhoods.

We’re also keeping a close eye on the ongoing heavy rain and flood warnings along the Puyallup River. With this atmospheric river bringing saturated ground, standing water, and higher river levels, some streets may be impacted and conditions could change quickly.

👉 What that means for you:
• Our top priority is community and crew safety.
• Routes and times may be adjusted, postponed, or shortened if flooding or road conditions become unsafe.
• We’ll post same-day updates here if anything changes.

In the meantime, please drive slowly, watch for water over the roadway, and never try to drive through flooded streets. We appreciate your flexibility and can’t wait to bring Santa by—as long as it’s safe to do so.

We’re closely monitoring the wet weather moving through the Puyallup area over the next few days. Forecasts are calling for periods of steady rain, at times heavy, along with some breezy conditions through mid-week.

Free self-fill sandbags are available at the station for anyone who needs them. Bring yourself and a vehicle; we’ll supply the sand and bags. If on-duty staff are available when you arrive, we’re happy to lend a hand with filling.

Please drive carefully in the rain, give yourself extra stopping distance, and avoid driving through standing water. If you have any questions about sandbags or access, feel free to call the station.
