Founded in 1937 on just a few bookshelves in Harry White drugstore, Puxico Public Library is the only log cabin library in the state of Missouri. The logs are cypress from the nearby Mingo National Wildlife Refuge area. Originally funded by the Works Progress Association during WWII, which commissioned the building currently in use. After WWII, the library continued to grow and change over many ye

ars of volunteers, funding, donations and the like and is currently being expanded thanks to donations from the Harty family.

We are making some changes to our Summer Reading Program this year. Registration will begin June 1 and log sheets are due July 24 by noon. I will not take late log sheets. No exceptions. The drawing will be held July 30th at 2 p.m. at the library. You must be present to win!!!! I will not hold prizes, etc. this year. We will be giving away gift cards only as prizes this year that drawing winners can use to buy what they would like with it. I will not repeat last year with folks getting mad not getting what their child wanted. If you can not be present at the drawing, then please, don't sign up. We will all, adults and children, be courteous this year! If the adults complain or their kiddos complain then the prize will be given to someone else. This is a drawing!!!! Not everyone will win! Be mindful of this fact please. A great deal of work goes into this program between library staff and our generous community and disrespect will not be tolerated this year.
