The Putnam Fire Department is fully prepared for the impending nor’easter. Yesterday, our members conducted regularly scheduled checks on all equipment to ensure everything is ready to respond when needed.

We encourage everyone to stay informed and use caution during the storm. As always, we’re here and ready to serve our community — day or night, no matter the weather.

We are currently assisting the Pomfret Fire department with a serious motorcycle accident in the area of 357 Putnam Rd. Please use caution if traveling in this area while crews work to clear the scene.

Today, Engine 1 and its crew have been stationed at the Woodstock Fair, delivering fire coverage for the fair and the Woodstock Vol Fire Assoc. Sta 76 district. In addition, Engine 1 provided fire protection for the fireworks display held this past Thursday.

Crews are currently on scene of a motor vehicle fire at 12 South Main St. The fire has been extinguished at this time.

Our thoughts and our prayers go out to the Plainville Fire Department after they lost one of their own battling a structure fire this morning. Our condolences go out to the department and to the families. Rest in Peace
