We are proud to recognize our newest members to join the Putnam Valley Vol Fire Department, and were officially sworn into membership at the monthly meeting held on June 9th.

Please welcome the PVVFD family, Lina Barbenes, Anthony DeRuggiero and Jonathan Scheidt.

Members come to us in many ways, and we are always grateful to those who spread the word in the community, whether through friends, acquaintances or a family member who is a current member.

At tonight’s meeting, along with Lina and Anthony, Jonathan, who is the grandson of a long-standing member Mike McHugh, who has been part of this department for 45+ years.

We congratulate Lina, Anthony, and Jonathan on taking this important step and look forward to serving alongside them as they begin their journey with the PVVFD

On Sunday, June 7th, Scout Troop 41 help their Car Wash Fundraiser at the Oregon Shell Station in Cortlandt Manor. The Putnam Valley Vol. Fire Department has a long history with the Scouts, and we wanted to continue to show our support, so we brought trucks to the event.

It’s always wonderful to see how excited the kids get when they see a fire trucks and they all got to work cleaning them.

Great job by the Scouts Troop 41, parents and Scout Leaders for organizing this event. We hope it was a great success and so glad we were able to support you as well.

Department Members (L to R) Lt Raj Singh, 1st Asst. Chief Frank DiMarco, FF Akani Ward, Chief Vito Rizzi & Captain Tom Sawyer.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Taconic State Parkway

On June 5th, at approximately 7:30 AM, members of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the Taconic State Parkway for a reported motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle that had overturned onto its side and driver out of the vehicle. The driver was evaluated at the scene and declined further medical attention.

The incident was brought under control without complications, and all members and apparatus returned to their respective stations without further incident.

We remind motorists to drive cautiously and remain attentive while traveling on our roadways.

6/6 PVVFD Blood Drive wrapped up on June 4, and once again our members and community showed incredible support.

A total of 109 pints of blood were collected, which the blood bank estimates could help as many as 299 potential recipients.

The end of the drive was especially busy, and unfortunately, approximately 15 donors were turned away due to capacity limitations. We appreciate your patience and willingness to give.

We are already working with the New York Blood Center to ensure sufficient staffing and resources are available to accommodate a higher volume of donors at our next blood drive in October.

Thank you to Bernie Mahoney and all the members who supported this event with setup, cooking, helping donors and giving blood, we couldn't do it without YOU!!β€οΈπŸ©ΈπŸš’

We are all devasted by the tragic loss of the two young adults who lost their lives in the structure fire earlier this week.

In their memory, the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department will fly the American flag at half-staff.

The thoughts and prayers of our department are with the Toone family, the students grieving the loss of their classmates and friends, and the firefighters, EMS personnel, and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

Please continue to keep everyone touched by this loss in your thoughts and prayers.
