Friday Night Lights Lamar County Edition. Your Lifeguard EMS was at the Sumrall and Oak Grove games last night providing essential public safety and medical care. Continued thanks to Dr. Quick and the Lamar County School Board for their investment in the protection of everyone in attendance, and a continued thanks to Lamar County Mississippi for their continued support.

Have you ever wondered how the sickest patients get from one ICU to an ICU at a larger facility with more resources? Sometimes we can fly those patients on a helicopter, and other times they must be ground transported in a Mobile ICU. That is were elite Critical Care Paramedics come to the bedside, and extend that critical care throughout transport. In Mississippi they also bring critical care to the point of injury or illness in the pre-hospital environment. Lifeguard Southern Mississippi made a major commitment to send 4 of our personnel to the Critical Care Academy at Jones College EMT-Paramedic. In this program they learn the fundamentals of critical care, enhance their skills, and perform clinical clerkships in the critical care environment. All 4 graduated and are awaiting their certification. The knowledge and extended scope of practice they bring is a huge fore multiplier in our ability to deliver care at a moments notice.

Lifeguard EMS assisted Lamar County Fire Services, Southeast Lamar Fire Department and Southwest Lamar Fire Department on a vehicle fire yesterday. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.

A partnership between Lifeguard Lamar County and the Lamar County School District now ensures there will be Emergency Medical Services at every home game. A huge thank you to Dr. Quick, and the School Board on investing in the safety of the players, cheerleaders, band members, and spectators. On our first Friday night lights here in Lamar County our crews deployed several times to treat sick or injured fans. One more way Lifeguard provides care at a moments notice.

Please help us in congratulating Lt. Abby Smith on being selected as a Star of Life award recipient. Lt. Smith was one of only 33 people selected nationally for this honor, and will be formally recognized at a ceremony in Washington, DC. Lt. Smith earned this honor for her expert delivery of emergency care to a critical pediatric patient with a positive outcome. Her leadership, clinical judgement and patient care made the difference and kept care at the center. Congratulations Lt. Smith!

Please help us congratulate our newest Paramedic, Danielle Bourn! Danielle recently graduated as the top academic performer in her Paramedic Program Jones College EMT-Paramedic. She cleared orientation and exit exam with our medical director and is clear for full duty. If you see Paramedic Bourn on scene just know you are in good hands!

Northeast Lamar Fire & Rescue, Oak Grove Fire & Rescue, and Lamar County Fire Services did an amazing job with a quick containment of a structure fire at the hottest part of today. Lifeguard Ambulance Service of Lamar County, Mississippi Med 4 and EMS1 were on-scene to provide support.
